Mark Roper, the Managing Director of Hagerty International, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Historic & Classic Vehicles Alliance (HCVA). He succeeds David Meek, who is moving on to explore new opportunities.
Bringing a vast array of expertise in leadership, growth, and community engagement, Roper is tasked with steering the HCVA through its next phase of development. This includes overseeing the recruitment of a new, full-time Chief Executive Officer who will spearhead the organization’s future strategies.
Since its inception in 2021, the HCVA has played a pivotal role in shaping discussions surrounding the challenges faced by the classic car industry. The organization has actively engaged in critiquing government policies, supported essential heritage skill projects, and promoted sustainability within the sector. Furthermore, it has fostered a collaborative environment for networking among industry stakeholders.

Roper, who has been a non-executive Director of the HCVA since 2023, will continue in his role as Managing Director of Hagerty International. His new position as Chairman reflects his ongoing commitment to the preservation and advancement of the classic car industry.
“I am thrilled to lead the HCVA and contribute to safeguarding the legacy and future of the classic car industry,” said Roper. “This role dovetails with Hagerty’s global mission to preserve the joy of driving for future generations. I am eager to collaborate with the HCVA team to foster a prosperous future for our industry.”
