London, UK (1st May 2024): The prestigious London Concours is poised to redefine the essence of automotive showcases with its 2024 ‘Wildcards’ class, promising a three-day spectacle from June 4th to 6th at the Honourable Artillery Company. This year’s edition, marked as the event’s eighth, will display an exclusive collection of the world’s most unique and spectacular cars, each narrating its own distinctive tale.
Organized by Adrian Flux, the Wildcards class aims to deliver an unparalleled experience, featuring a blend of classic icons and innovative custom creations. These automobiles are not just machines but masterpieces of art and engineering, each crafted with exceptional skill and creativity.
Among the stars of the show is the Scamander, an amphibious vehicle designed by Peter Wheeler, the former head of TVR. This machine combines on-road and off-road capabilities with the potential for aquatic adventures. Originally powered by a modest 2.0-litre engine and later upgraded to a mid-mounted 275hp Ford V6, the Scamander embodies true innovation. Although it never moved beyond a prototype, it has been recently revitalized and is ready to make a grand re-entry into the public eye, with a special feature coming up on Harry Metcalfe’s Harry’s Garage YouTube channel this Sunday, May 5th.
Also highlighted in the Wildcards class is the 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220S “Ponton” Cabriolet. This vehicle emerged from the revolutionary “Ponton” series, known for its pontoon-like sides and the introduction of Mercedes-Benz’s unit-body construction method. The 220S Cabriolet, recognized for its elegant design and advanced engineering, remains a symbol of automotive innovation.

Joining these automotive marvels is the 1976 Lotus Esprit, famed for its role in the James Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me.” Designed with a focus on aerodynamics and performance, this Lotus is powered by a 1973cc straight-four engine, demonstrating impressive power and handling.
The Jaguar XK120 will also be on display, a model renowned for its racing heritage and striking design. Underneath its sleek exterior, it houses a 3442cc inline-six engine, renowned for its powerful performance and smooth operation.
Andrew Evans, Managing Director of London Concours, expressed his excitement about the unique nature of the Wildcards class. “These cars break the mold of traditional categories, offering a glimpse into the rich diversity of the automotive world,” said Evans.
The event is not only about the cars but also offers a luxurious experience with a range of gourmet food and drink, live stage discussions, and a selection of premium brands and boutiques. Tickets are now available, starting at £35, promising another unforgettable chapter of automotive indulgence at this year’s London Concours.
