Kia is set to make a confident return to the Commercial Vehicle Show this April, bringing with it a sharpened vision for the future of electric commercial mobility. Back for its second appearance at the NEC Birmingham event, the brand is using the platform not just to showcase products, but to tell a broader story about flexibility, scalability and the evolving needs of modern fleets.
At the centre of this narrative is the PV5, Kia’s first purpose-built fully electric light commercial vehicle. This year, the spotlight burns brighter than before, with a five-vehicle display anchored by two European debuts that expand the model’s reach both physically and strategically.
The introduction of the PV5 Cargo L1/H1 and PV5 Cargo L2/H2 marks a significant step forward for the range. These new configurations broaden the van’s footprint, offering different length and height combinations that move beyond the original L2/H1 format. The smaller L1/H1 variant, in particular, opens the door to a new entry point into Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle ecosystem, hinting at a more accessible and adaptable future for businesses looking to electrify.
But Kia’s presence at the show is not just about adding more metal to the mix. It is about demonstrating how that metal can be shaped, adapted and integrated into real-world operations. Alongside the core PV5 line-up, visitors will encounter converted models developed through Kia’s growing network of PBV Conversion Partners. These vehicles act as proof-of-concept for the platform’s versatility, showing how a single electric backbone can be transformed to serve industries as varied as logistics, utilities and specialist services.
One of the most compelling examples is the PV5 Chassis Cab, a vehicle engineered from the ground up to support bespoke body configurations. First revealed at the SOLUTRANS trade show in France, it arrives in Birmingham as a symbol of Kia’s intent to move beyond standardisation and into true customisation. It is less a van and more a canvas, designed to be shaped by the specific demands of each business it serves.
Underpinning all of this is a suite of technologies aimed at simplifying the transition to electrification. Kia is placing a strong emphasis on connected fleet solutions, offering tools that provide detailed insights into vehicle usage, charging patterns and operational costs. The goal is not just to electrify fleets, but to make them smarter, more efficient and easier to manage in day-to-day operations.
Kia’s Business Experts will be on hand throughout the show, engaging directly with fleet operators to translate this ecosystem into tangible value. It is a hands-on approach that reflects the brand’s ambition to position itself as more than a manufacturer, instead becoming a long-term partner in commercial mobility.
This year’s showcase builds on the momentum of Kia’s debut at the 2025 CV Show, where the PV5 first signalled the company’s entry into the UK light commercial vehicle sector. That debut was a statement of intent, introducing a new contender into a rapidly electrifying market. One year on, the tone has shifted from introduction to expansion, with a clearer demonstration of how Kia plans to compete and evolve.
The PV5 has already collected significant industry recognition, including the 2026 International Van of the Year title, reinforcing its credentials in a competitive segment. With pricing for the Cargo L2/H1 starting from £27,645 excluding VAT and incentives, and eligibility for the UK’s Zero Emission Van Grant, the model positions itself as both forward-thinking and financially viable.
Looking further ahead, Kia’s roadmap extends beyond the PV5. The larger PV7 is scheduled for launch in 2027, followed by the PV9 in 2029, forming a growing family of electric commercial vehicles designed to cover a wide spectrum of use cases.
At the CV Show, however, the focus remains firmly on the present moment. A moment where electrification is no longer a distant ambition, but an operational reality. And in the middle of Hall 5, stand 5C95, Kia is making its case with quiet confidence, backed by a platform that is as adaptable as the businesses it aims to serve.
