Leatherhead, 30 April 2025 – As the world of work continues to evolve at lightning speed, a growing number of UK parents are feeling overwhelmed by the task of guiding their children through the maze of modern career choices. Hyundai Motor UK is stepping in to help. Now in its third year, the brand’s nationwide education programme – The Hyundai Great British School Trip – is placing career development front and centre, delivering innovative tools and experiences to empower students, parents, and teachers alike.
This year’s initiative responds directly to new Hyundai-commissioned research revealing that while 96% of parents acknowledge the world of work is undergoing seismic change, nearly half (45%) feel ill-equipped to offer career advice, especially on rapidly emerging fields like AI, robotics, and space exploration. With this in mind, Hyundai is introducing fresh resources designed to ignite conversations and open doors to the professions of tomorrow.
At the heart of this year’s programme is a groundbreaking virtual space-themed lesson, available on demand for secondary schools nationwide during National School Trips Week (28 April – 4 May). The immersive lesson is hosted by renowned space scientist Dame Dr Maggie Aderin, who guides Year 8–9 students through exciting career paths in the ever-expanding space sector and adjacent industries.
“It’s inspiring to see young people already thinking about future careers in science, tech, and digital media,” said Dame Dr Maggie Aderin. “The challenge is helping them explore these fast-moving fields in meaningful, hands-on ways. That’s why initiatives like The Hyundai Great British School Trip matter. They spark curiosity and open possibilities.”

To further amplify learning beyond the classroom, participating schools will be entered into a prize draw to win an all-expenses-paid visit to the National Space Centre – offering a real-world glimpse into the frontier of space careers and innovation.
Understanding that career conversations often begin at home, Hyundai is also launching the Hyundai Future Jobs Trumps card game. This free, fast-paced resource introduces young people (ages 9 and up) to an array of imaginative and relevant future roles – from Cosmic Architects to AI Ethicists – encouraging families to talk about the skillsets and passions that fuel tomorrow’s industries. The game can be used at home, in school settings, or even on the go, with free packs available via a simple request form.
“We’ve seen how powerful real-world experiences can be in preparing young people for the future of work,” said Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai Motor & Genesis UK. “Knowing that over a quarter of parents want more support with career guidance – and understanding the pressures teachers face – we believe it’s more important than ever to give students early exposure to the careers of tomorrow.”
Since its inception, The Hyundai Great British School Trip has reached nearly 165,000 children across the UK and contributed over £3 million in funding to support educational experiences. By combining digital innovation with hands-on learning, Hyundai is not just talking about the future – it’s helping shape it.
