There first book of fairytales and folklore were published in 1812 exactly 200 years ago. The Brothers Grimm first book was titled “Children’s and Household Tales”. Most of us have grown up with these stories and it is hard to think that children from all over the world have been listening and reading these stories for the past 200 years.

Brothers Grimm is working in Internet Explore, Firefox and Google Chrome

The Brothers Grimm Google Doodle is working in Firefox, Internet Explorer 9 and Google Chrome. The Google Doodle is loading slow the first time you open Google and need to download the scripts that are used in the Doodle. The Brothers Grimm Doodle also have more graphics and images than the normal Google Doodles and you may have to wait a bit for the Google Doodle to load and to work.

In the Brothers Grimm Doodle you can view images of the “Story of Little Red Riding Hood” also known as “Little Red Cap” or simply “Red Riding Hood”, is a European fairy tale about a young girl and a Big Bad Wolf.

In the first Google Doodle you can see Little Red Riding Hood standing with a picnic basket in her hand, waiting for you to click the arrow to move to the next scene of the story.

How Does The Brothers Grimm Google Doodle Work

“In the Story Little Red Riding Hood is still a little kid, and she is not fully aware of all the dangers that are in the forest. In the right hand corner you will see two eyes looking at little Red Riding Hood. These are the eyes of the Big Bad Wolf and is likely to be symbolic of the dangers that the world offers to little naive kids.”

In the next scene the BIG BAD WOLF approaches Little Red Riding Hood and asks her where she is going. Just like many of the Brothers Grimm stories, the moral of the scene is that children should not talk to strangers. In the scene Little Red Riding Hood is being callable and tell the Wolf about her grandmother that is sick, and that she is going to visit her grandmother, without knowing that the Wolf is mentally sick and psycho and can hurt her.

In some of the varioants of the Brother Grimm stories, the Wolf tells the little girl about a shortcut she can take that will bring her to the grandmothers house faster. The wolf reaches Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmothers house long before Little Red Riding Hood because he distracted her with the flowers. In other versions of the Brothers Grimm story the Wolf reaches the home first because he took the shortcut and send Little Red Riding Hood on a longer road.

“The Wolf gets to the Grandmothers home and because he knows that Little Red Riding Hood is going to visit her grandmother, and the grandmother is expecting Little Red Riding Hood, the wolf pretends to be her and easily fool her sick grandmother to open the door for him!”

Once the Grandmother opens the door for the Wolf he easily overpowers her. In some stories he lock the Grandmother in the closet and in other stories the Wolf ate the Grandmother.
