Today December 20, 2012 the Google Doodle features the “Brothers Grimm”. The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm brought us some of the best folk tales and stories from 200 years ago. The Brothers Grimm were famous for their stories like “Hansel and Gretel”, “Cinderella”, “The Frog Prince”, “Rumpelstiltskin”, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.
There first book of fairytales and folklore were published in 1812 exactly 200 years ago. The Brothers Grimm first book was titled “Children’s and Household Tales”. Most of us have grown up with these stories and it is hard to think that children from all over the world have been listening and reading these stories for the past 200 years.

Brothers Grimm is working in Internet Explore, Firefox and Google Chrome
The Brothers Grimm Google Doodle is working in Firefox, Internet Explorer 9 and Google Chrome. The Google Doodle is loading slow the first time you open Google and need to download the scripts that are used in the Doodle. The Brothers Grimm Doodle also have more graphics and images than the normal Google Doodles and you may have to wait a bit for the Google Doodle to load and to work.

In the Brothers Grimm Doodle you can view images of the “Story of Little Red Riding Hood” also known as “Little Red Cap” or simply “Red Riding Hood”, is a European fairy tale about a young girl and a Big Bad Wolf.
In the first Google Doodle you can see Little Red Riding Hood standing with a picnic basket in her hand, waiting for you to click the arrow to move to the next scene of the story.
“Once you click on the Right Arrow you will be taken to the next scene of the Brothers Grimm Little Red Riding Hood story. In the image you can see that Little Red Riding Hood is leaving the city and going into the forest to visit her grandmother. Her Grandmother is sick and she is talking food to her.”
In the Brothers Grimm Little Red Riding Hood Google Doodle you will see that there is now a left arrow and a right arrow. You can use the left arrow to move to the previous image and the right arrow to move to the next image.
“In the next scene Little Red Riding Hood is walking over a bridge entering the forest. She is singing and being happy glad to be on her way to visit her Grandmother”
“In the Story Little Red Riding Hood is still a little kid, and she is not fully aware of all the dangers that are in the forest. In the right hand corner you will see two eyes looking at little Red Riding Hood. These are the eyes of the Big Bad Wolf and is likely to be symbolic of the dangers that the world offers to little naive kids.”
In the next scene the BIG BAD WOLF approaches Little Red Riding Hood and asks her where she is going. Just like many of the Brothers Grimm stories, the moral of the scene is that children should not talk to strangers. In the scene Little Red Riding Hood is being callable and tell the Wolf about her grandmother that is sick, and that she is going to visit her grandmother, without knowing that the Wolf is mentally sick and psycho and can hurt her.
“After talking to Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf realize that Little Red Riding Hood did not listen to her parents warning her not to talk to strangers, and takes advantage of Little Red Riding Hood, telling her that he thinks her Grandma would appreciate it if she picked some flowers for her, and show her a place where she can pick flowers for the Grandma. In some of the varioants of the Brother Grimm stories, the Wolf tells the little girl about a shortcut she can take that will bring her to the grandmothers house faster. Ofcaurse this is all part of the Wolf’s plan to go to the grandmothers house and wait for Little Red Riding Hood to come”
“While Little Red Riding Hood is picking flowers for her Grandmother, the Wolf is quickly making his way to Little Red Riding Hood’s Grandmothers House”
“Close to where Little Red Riding Hood’s Grandmother lives the Wolf crosses a river in some of the other versions of the Brothers Grimm Little Red Riding Hood story there is a pond close to the grandmothers house”
The wolf reaches Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmothers house long before Little Red Riding Hood because he distracted her with the flowers. In other versions of the Brothers Grimm story the Wolf reaches the home first because he took the shortcut and send Little Red Riding Hood on a longer road.
“The Wolf gets to the Grandmothers home and because he knows that Little Red Riding Hood is going to visit her grandmother, and the grandmother is expecting Little Red Riding Hood, the wolf pretends to be her and easily fool her sick grandmother to open the door for him!”
Once the Grandmother opens the door for the Wolf he easily overpowers her. In some stories he lock the Grandmother in the closet and in other stories the Wolf ate the Grandmother.
“Being only a little girl, Little Red Riding Hood is surprised to find her grandma in bed when she finally arrives, her grandma also looks different and she is uncertain about why her grandmother looks the way she looks, she thinks by herself that it might be because her grandmother is sick!”
“Little Red Riding Hood cannot hold her curiosity anymore and asks the Wolf why his ears are so big. The wolf answers that it is to hear her better. Then she asks him why his nose is so big and he answers her it is to better smell her, she then ask him why his mouth is so big, and he answers that it is to eat her!”
“The wolf then jump’s up and eat Little Red Riding Hood. He then falls asleep…”
“Luckily for Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother there is a Wood Chopper close to the house. He earlier saw the Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood talking and thought that he will keep an eye on the two, when he hears snoring coming from the grandmothers house he knows that there is something wrong and quickly go to the house to investigate.”
“The Wood Choppers find the Wolf sleeping in the Grandmothers house and immediately knows that there is something wrong.” In many of the other variants of the Brothers Grimm stories the wolf heard Little Red Riding Hood calling for help instead of the Wolf snoring.
In the Google version of the Brothers Grimm Little Red Riding Hood it looks like the grandmother have knitted a rope in the wolf’s stomach that she and little red riding hood wanted to use to climb out of the wolf stomach.
“The wood chopper saw the Knitting coming out of the Wolf’s mouth and junked on it, pulling both little Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother from the Wolf’s stomach, saving them both!”
“After saving Little Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother the Wood Chopper fights with the Bad Wolf and knocks the Wolf unconscious, In the image you can see that Little Red Riding Hood is really happy that the Wood Chopper saved her!”
“In the Google version of the Brothers Grimm story the Wolf is send to jail, in other versions of the Brothers Grimm Story the Wood Chopper cut open the Wolf stomach to save the girl and her grandmother, the grandmother then stitches the Wolf stomach together again after filling the wolf’s stomach with rocks. The wolf then falls into the river or pond and drowns because of the heavy stones in his stomach!”
In the end the Brothers Grimm story ends on a high note with Little Red Riding Hood beings saved and her grandmother fine. The story comes with a good moral story warning children not to talk to strangers and not to walk in dangerous place alone!
