Munich, Germany – Horse Powertrain, a global leader in hybrid and combustion powertrain innovation, has revealed its most advanced line-up of integrated powertrain systems at IAA Summit 2025. Showcased in Hall A2, Booth B40, the unveiling highlights Horse Powertrain’s commitment to low-emission, high-efficiency mobility solutions, combining cutting-edge engines, transmissions, and subsystems to meet the evolving needs of OEMs worldwide.
With 17 manufacturing plants and five R&D centers spanning the globe, Horse Powertrain is setting a new benchmark for hybrid, range-extended, and low-emission propulsion technologies. At the forefront of this exhibition are three headline systems: the compact Horse C15 range extender, the all-in-one Future Hybrid System, and the multi-functional 4DHT120 hybrid transmission.
Horse C15: Compact Range Extender with Maximum Flexibility
Marking its public debut at IAA Summit, the Horse C15 compact range extender is a technological tour de force in packaging and performance. Measuring just 480x490x250mm, the briefcase-sized unit integrates a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine with generator, exhaust, and cooling systems.
The Horse C15 caters to a spectrum of vehicle segments. Naturally aspirated variants deliver up to 70kW for B- and C-segment vehicles, while turbocharged versions push output to 120kW for D-segment vehicles and small LCVs. Its flexible orientation—horizontal or vertical—offers OEMs unprecedented freedom to convert BEV platforms into range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs) with minimal structural modifications.
Supporting gasoline, ethanol, methanol flex fuels, and synthetic alternatives, the Horse C15 promises versatility and efficiency, reinforcing Horse Powertrain’s position at the cutting edge of hybrid and range-extender innovation.
Future Hybrid System: The “All-in-One” Solution for BEVs
Earlier this year at Auto Shanghai, Horse Powertrain introduced its revolutionary Future Hybrid System, and IAA Summit 2025 delivers an expanded look. This integrated hybrid system combines engine, transmission, motor, and power electronics into a single, platform-ready solution, replacing the front electric drive unit of BEVs.
Two variants are showcased:
- Performance (740mm-wide): Features a dual-motor P1 + P3 configuration, offering powerful FWD-only propulsion capabilities and the option for all-wheel-drive integration via a rear P4 motor.
- Ultra-Compact (650mm-wide): Utilizes a P2 motor between the engine and transmission, providing a lightweight and efficient solution for smaller platforms.
Both variants incorporate a 1.5-litre engine, dedicated hybrid transmission, and full hybrid electronics suite, enabling seamless integration with DC/DC converters, on-board chargers, and 800V charging boosters. With minimal platform modifications, BEVs can be transformed into HEVs, PHEVs, or REEVs, delivering hybrid performance, efficiency, and all-wheel-drive versatility.

Horse 4DHT120: Multi-Functional Hybrid Transmission
Expanding on current hybrid transmission technology, the Horse 4DHT120 is a “5-in-1” power unit, combining an eMotor, Hybrid Starter Generator, Power Electronics Box, DC/DC converter, and transmission. Compatible with hybrid-friendly engines of any fuel type, the 4DHT120 empowers OEMs to hybridize combustion vehicles with minimal re-engineering.
Its electric motor delivers 80kW continuous power and 140kW peak, generating 300Nm of torque at up to 16,500rpm. Integration of the power electronics into the transmission housing improves packaging efficiency, reduces friction, and delivers a driving experience reminiscent of a pure EV, while maintaining exceptional fuel efficiency on both urban and highway driving cycles.
Engines and Transmissions: Innovation Across Fuel Types
Horse M20 Hydrogen leverages a 2.0-litre turbo diesel platform adapted for hydrogen, producing 90kW and 300Nm while meeting Euro7 emissions standards. The engine’s novel direct injection system achieves hydrogen utilization rates of 94.3%, rivaling fuel cell efficiency without relying on rare minerals.
Horse B15 Engine & 3DHT160 Transmission combine a 1.5-litre hybrid engine with a high-performance transmission. Achieving 41.7% thermal efficiency and up to 120kW power, the system integrates electric assistance for ignition, turbocharging, and exhaust recovery. The 3DHT160 transmission uses a P1 + P3 motor layout to enhance responsiveness, efficiency, and acceleration at a lightweight 138kg.
Advanced Components and Subsystems
Turbulent Jet Ignition (TJI), developed with Aramco, replaces conventional spark plugs with high-energy turbulent jets to dramatically improve combustion efficiency, reducing WLTP emissions by 5% in adapted engines.
GaN High-Efficiency Generator leverages Gallium Nitride modules for superior thermal and switching performance. Outputting 50kW at 4500rpm with 95% efficiency, its compact design reduces axial length by 20% versus traditional generators.
Amorphous Motor uses ultra-thin amorphous steel laminations to cut iron losses by over 50%, achieving unprecedented 98.2% efficiency while delivering up to 140kW and 360Nm of torque.
Shaping the Future of Low-Emission Mobility
Horse Powertrain’s IAA Summit 2025 showcase underscores the company’s leadership in compact, versatile, and hybrid-ready solutions. By combining innovative engines, integrated hybrid systems, and high-efficiency components, Horse Powertrain is equipping OEMs with the tools to accelerate electrification, broaden fuel flexibility, and deliver compelling hybrid and range-extended EV experiences.
With a global presence spanning 17 plants and five R&D centers, Horse Powertrain continues to redefine the intersection of engineering innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in the mobility sector.
