On Wednesday, 21st May, H&H Classics will host ‘The Peaks Sale’ at the picturesque Pavilion Gardens in Buxton, with more than 130 classic, collector and performance cars set to go under the hammer. The total value of the lots is expected to exceed £3 million, making this one of the most significant sales on the UK’s classic car calendar.
Among the headliners is a stunning 1960 Maserati 3500 GT, estimated at £140,000–£160,000. This rare Italian grand tourer — one of fewer than 2,000 Coupes ever made — has been extensively restored and boasts minimal mileage since its full engine overhaul. It stands as a shining example of post-war European craftsmanship and is certain to draw considerable attention from discerning collectors.
In stark contrast but no less significant is the oldest car in the auction — a 1923 Wolseley 10 E3 Four-Seat Tourer, estimated at £8,000–£10,000. One of only four known survivors, this charming vintage motorcar represents a rare opportunity to own a piece of early British motoring history.
H&H Classics’ Sales Manager, James McWilliam, commented:
“With temperatures decidedly on the increase, our auction on 21st May is the perfect opportunity to own a classic to be enjoyed in the summer sun. There’s also a fantastic variety of lots which will appeal to enthusiasts, whatever age of vehicle, style or marque they have an interest in.”

Among the standout lots is an exceptionally well-preserved 1997 Bentley Azure, estimated at £65,000–£75,000. Showing fewer than 11,000 miles on the odometer — an average of just 357 miles per year — this handcrafted convertible has been meticulously maintained regardless of cost. It is widely regarded as one of the best of its kind.
Fans of 1960s German engineering will no doubt be drawn to a 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, guided at £60,000–£80,000. One of only 562 right-hand drive models built, this highly collectible roadster has been in long-term ownership and features a fully overhauled engine, further enhancing its appeal.
For those with a penchant for 1980s performance icons, a 1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo ‘40th Anniversary’ will be on offer with a guide price of £20,000–£30,000. Number four of only 40 cars made specifically for the UK market, this angular British sports car was capable of 0–60mph in just 5.4 seconds and a top speed north of 150mph.
Another highlight of the event is the inclusion of ten exceptional vehicles from the ‘Loch Lomond Collection’, a carefully curated assortment of classic cars from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. The collector’s focus on condition means bidders can expect models that have been selected with connoisseur-level precision.
Notably, 19 lots will be offered at no reserve, including a 1979 Daimler DS420 Limousine, believed to have once belonged to the Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon and used during Royal visits by Princess Anne and Princess Diana.
All vehicles will be available for public viewing at the Pavilion Gardens on Tuesday 20th May from midday and again on the morning of the auction day, Wednesday 21st May from 9am. The auction itself begins at 12pm, and bidders can take part in person, online, via telephone or by submitting a commission bid in advance.
