Monterey, California, 15 August 2025 – Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV), the new British marque dedicated to bespoke, heritage-inspired and visionary performance cars, has made its global debut during Monterey Car Week with the unveiling of its first two creations: the GMSV S1 LM and the GMSV Le Mans GTR. Both models pay tribute to the endurance racers that defined an era and reimagine Professor Gordon Murray’s landmark 1995 Le Mans victory for a new generation.
The arrival of GMSV marks a new chapter in Murray’s extraordinary automotive legacy. While sister company Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) continues to build hand-crafted production cars such as the T.50 and T.33, GMSV has been established to fulfil the growing demand from collectors and enthusiasts for one-off commissions, limited-run specials, and heritage continuations. Each creation reflects Murray’s seven principles of design: driving perfection, lightweight construction, engineering art, return to beauty, exclusivity, driver-focused ergonomics, and pure performance.
GMSV S1 LM – An Intimate Road-Going Homage
The GMSV S1 LM represents the company’s first-ever commission and fittingly carries the designation Special One. Conceived as a road-legal homage to Murray’s 1995 Le Mans–winning McLaren F1 GTR, the S1 LM pushes the boundaries of exclusivity and design purity.
Its carbon-fibre bodywork is entirely new, with a lowered roofline, race-derived aero package, and sculpted surfaces that marry aesthetic balance with high-downforce performance. Le Mans–inspired lights, precision housings, and an aggressive dual-element rear wing underline its purposeful stance.
At its heart lies a bespoke 4.3-litre V12, producing over 700 PS and revving to an extraordinary 12,100 rpm. Freed from the rear fan and cooling system of earlier designs, the engine delivers raw, unfiltered connection through a short-throw six-speed manual gearbox and a new lightweight Inconel exhaust wrapped in 18-karat gold heat shielding.
Inside, the central driving position creates a fighter jet–style cockpit, stripped back to its essentials yet crafted with exquisite detail. Every element embodies Murray’s principle of engineering art.
Only five examples of the S1 LM will be built, with customer deliveries beginning in 2026.
Professor Gordon Murray, Group Executive Chairman, commented:
“I love timeless design. I never want us to join the race to make the most outrageous looking supercar at the expense of balance, beauty and proportion. Look at the result – the car is timeless and beautiful.”

GMSV Le Mans GTR – The Spirit of the Longtail Reimagined
Alongside the S1 LM, GMSV unveiled its first SV Design series model: the Le Mans GTR, a road-going celebration of history’s greatest longtail endurance racers. Drawing inspiration from icons such as the Porsche 917, Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3, and Murray’s own McLaren F1 GTR, the Le Mans GTR combines flowing proportions with modern aerodynamic mastery.
Beneath its elegant carbon skin sits the same high-revving GMA V12 paired with a manual gearbox, but almost every other element of the car has been redesigned. Passive Boundary Layer Control, a full-width rear wing, and twin-channel diffuser create maximum ground-effect performance without reliance on a rear-mounted fan. The result is a car optimised for both road and track, balancing low drag with formidable downforce.
Track-focused dynamics are sharpened further by stiffer, lighter suspension, a wider track, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and enhanced cooling systems. Inside, a minimalist yet luxurious cabin offers complete personalisation, with customers able to specify materials and colours inspired by historic longtail racers.
Just 24 examples of the Le Mans GTR will be built – one for every hour of the Le Mans 24 Hours. All units are already sold, with first deliveries due in 2026.
Professor Murray said:
“Longtail racing cars perfectly combine aerodynamic benefit and aesthetic balance. I’ve always loved their mix of considered engineering and flowing design. Our Le Mans GTR timelessly reimagines the racers I’ve admired since I began designing cars.”
A New Era for Gordon Murray
The launch of GMSV signals a bold expansion for the Gordon Murray Group, building on its reputation for creating some of the most iconic performance cars of the past 50 years. With SV Design, Heritage, and Bespoke divisions, GMSV provides a canvas for visionary customers to bring unique vehicles to life, each crafted with Murray’s signature obsession for detail, lightweight construction, and driver involvement.
Phil Lee, CEO of the Gordon Murray Group, concluded:
“The Gordon Murray Group has driving perfection, lightweight, engineering art, and exclusivity at the core of all it does. GMSV allows us to explore these themes further, fuelled by the imagination of our customers. Our first two models demonstrate the exceptional engineering and design capabilities of the GMSV team – and this is just the beginning.”
With the S1 LM and Le Mans GTR, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has not only honoured one of motorsport’s greatest victories but also charted a course for the future of bespoke supercar craftsmanship – one rooted in purity, passion, and timeless design.
