The Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes (SSCBB) charity has expanded its fleet with the addition of four Dacia Jogger cars, reinforcing its mission to provide urgent and free medical deliveries to NHS hospitals across the three counties. This volunteer-run charity, which travels over 375,000 miles annually and completes more than 7,000 critical medical deliveries, relies on its fleet of 18 motorcycles to transport blood, blood products, donated breast milk, and other medical essentials. However, with unpredictable weather and long-distance deliveries presenting challenges, the introduction of the Dacia Jogger has proven to be a game-changer.
A Reliable and Versatile Solution
SSCBB’s new Dacia Jogger cars have already covered an impressive 20,000 miles within their first month of service, largely due to icy conditions that made motorbike deliveries unsafe. The Joggers offer the charity enhanced flexibility, ensuring that urgent deliveries continue uninterrupted, even in adverse weather conditions. They are also instrumental in transporting volunteers and bulky equipment to fundraising events, further supporting the organisation’s essential work.
Jeremy Cartwright, Chair of SSCBB, emphasized the impact of these vehicles on the charity’s operations:
“Having cars on our fleet allows us to take on very long runs or to transport larger items as needed, but the primary use for the Jogger cars is to protect our service during bad weather. We take on an increasing number of urgent or time-critical jobs linked to specific theatre operations—before, if a bike couldn’t be sent due to bad weather, an operation could be cancelled. Now, we simply send a Jogger instead.”

A Strategic Choice for Cost-Effective Operations
The decision to integrate the Dacia Jogger into the SSCBB fleet was made after careful evaluation. Small vans were initially trialled, but the Jogger emerged as the superior choice due to its affordability, reliability, and spacious interior. The vehicles not only provide a practical and budget-friendly alternative but also help the NHS avoid costly last-minute courier services or delays in patient treatment.
Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, expressed his admiration for the charity’s work:
“This charity does an absolutely incredible job of helping the NHS and the public. Their work is vital, and we are so pleased to see the Jogger playing such a key support role. Its space, practicality, and durability make it perfect for its duties, as well as giving the charity the best value for money.”
Driving Forward with Purpose
SSCBB has been serving the community since 2014, ensuring that hospitals receive urgent medical supplies without financial burden. The addition of the Dacia Jogger to its fleet marks a significant step in enhancing the charity’s operational efficiency and resilience, ensuring that critical medical deliveries continue seamlessly, no matter the conditions. With its dedicated team of volunteers and a strengthened fleet, SSCBB is better equipped than ever to support life-saving medical care across Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Cheshire.
