Hobby-X, celebrating its 25th anniversary, once again asserted its position as Southern Africa’s premier event for hobby enthusiasts with a record-breaking edition in 2024. Drawing an impressive 11,558 visitors from 172 towns and cities, the event witnessed a remarkable 33% increase in attendance from the previous year. Held from [dates], Hobby-X showcased 69 diverse hobbies, offering attendees a vibrant tapestry of creativity and innovation.
The theme of “Retro Cool” permeated the event, inviting visitors to relive cherished memories and explore new passions. A standout addition, the Man Cave, expanded the event’s appeal, providing a dedicated space for enthusiasts to delve into a broader spectrum of hobbies and crafts.
One of the defining moments of Hobby-X 2024 was the successful Guinness World Records title attempt for the largest display of rolled paper flowers. Partnering with Cricut, the initial goal of 1,000 flowers was dwarfed by an astounding 6,696 flowers meticulously crafted and verified, setting a new global benchmark. Martin Kruger, Director of Sales and Marketing (Middle East, Turkey, and Africa) at Cricut, hailed this achievement as a testament to collaborative spirit and innovative prowess.
“The Cricut team, alongside Hobby-X, is thrilled to announce our Guinness World Records title for the largest display of rolled paper flowers,” remarked Kruger. “This accomplishment showcases not only our precision technology but also the dedication of everyone involved.
