Dartford, UK – April 3, 2024 – In an exciting development for motorsport enthusiasts and aspiring racers alike, Caterham has unveiled its inaugural video series, “The Academy Racer”. This groundbreaking six-part series, produced in collaboration with Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, offers an intimate glimpse into the prestigious Caterham Academy, the UK’s premier amateur racing league. Through the experiences of Caterham veteran Samantha Parker, viewers will gain insight into the highs and lows of competitive racing, from intensive pre-season preparation and driver training to the exhilaration of the first race and the dynamics of off-track rivalries.

Samantha Parker, a two-decade stalwart of Caterham, steps into the limelight as both the subject of the series and the Academy partner for 2024. Her participation marks a significant effort to encourage broader involvement in motorsport, especially among women, by demonstrating that passion and ambition can lead to success on the racetrack.

Reflecting on her dual role as racer and presenter, Parker shared her enthusiasm and readiness for the challenges ahead, emphasizing the diversity and camaraderie within this year’s cohort of racers.

Simon Lambert, Caterham’s Chief Motorsport and Technical Officer, highlighted the importance of female representation in motorsport, acknowledging the current gender disparities but expressing optimism that “The Academy Racer” will help break down barriers and promote an inclusive environment within the Caterham Academy and the sport at large.

Since its inception in 1995, the Caterham Academy has been a gateway for over 1,300 novice drivers to fulfill their racing dreams in a supportive and accessible setting. This year, Parker’s journey and her Caterham Academy car, adorned with Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka’s signature blue, will also serve to spotlight the importance of diversity in motorsport.

Chris Fraser, the visionary behind Ellers Farm Distillery and a long-time Caterham collaborator, praised the competitive spirit and camaraderie of Caterham racing. He expressed pride in supporting Parker’s racing debut and in using the platform to encourage more women to consider motorsport as an accessible and enjoyable venture.

“The Academy Racer” promises to be a captivating series for fans and aspiring racers alike, offering unprecedented access to the world of amateur racing.
