London, 21 May 2025 – The Grand Prix Trust, Formula One’s official benevolent fund, has announced the appointment of two highly respected figures from the world of motorsport to its board of trustees. Sky Sports F1 analyst Bernie Collins and Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team’s Sporting Director Andy Stevenson will join the Trust’s leadership team under the guidance of Chairman Martin Brundle OBE.
The addition of Collins and Stevenson strengthens the Trust’s mission to support the people behind the high-octane spectacle of Formula One — from trackside technicians to factory staff and supply chain workers — many of whom remain out of the spotlight but are integral to the success of the sport.
Founded in 1987 by three-time World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart, the Grand Prix Trust has provided vital assistance to members of the F1 community facing hardship. The Trust’s reach has expanded over the decades to include not only current and former team personnel, but also their immediate families and individuals employed within the sport’s extensive supply network.
As part of its forward-looking vision, the Trust has also launched a bursary scheme aimed at helping underprivileged children access motorsport education and career opportunities — a move that underscores its commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent.
Two New Trustees with Deep Motorsport Roots
Bernie Collins brings both technical expertise and a modern media presence to the board. A key voice in Sky Sports F1 broadcasts, she is known for her incisive strategic breakdowns and deep understanding of race operations. Before transitioning to television, Collins was Head of Race Strategy at Aston Martin F1 and held previous roles at Racing Point, Force India and McLaren, where she began her career as a performance engineer.
Commenting on her appointment, Collins said:
“I’m really excited and privileged to be joining the board of trustees for the Grand Prix Trust. I look forward to being part of the great work that the Grand Prix Trust undertakes and contributing in a positive way.”
Andy Stevenson, meanwhile, brings a wealth of hands-on experience garnered from over 600 Grands Prix. Having entered the sport as a mechanic with Jordan F1 in 1991, Stevenson steadily rose through the ranks to become Chief Mechanic and later Sporting Director — a role he continues to hold today at Aston Martin.

He said:
“I’m honoured to have been invited to join the Board of Trustees for the Grand Prix Trust. The Trust plays a vital role in supporting the people who have given so much to the world of motorsport, often behind the scenes. I’m proud to contribute to an organisation that offers practical help and guidance to members of our community when they need it most. It’s a privilege to be part of something that reflects the values of care, respect, and long-term commitment within the sport.”
A Stronger Future for F1’s Quiet Contributors
The Grand Prix Trust’s board is already home to a distinguished roster of trustees, including legendary Williams F1 engineer Sir Patrick Head, former Ferrari and Brawn GP technical leader Ross Brawn OBE, and Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley. Together, they share a common goal: to safeguard the well-being of the people who form the foundation of Formula One.
Martin Brundle, who has chaired the Trust since 2023, welcomed the new appointments with enthusiasm:
“We are delighted to welcome Bernie Collins and Andy Stevenson as additional Trustees for the Grand Prix Trust. They are two highly regarded F1 industry professionals with considerable experience, and who also have a passion and respect for our 75-year-old sport. As we increase the reach and achievements of the Trust, they will play an important role.”
In a sport defined by speed, precision, and constant innovation, the Grand Prix Trust stands as a steady hand — offering care, continuity, and compassion. With Collins and Stevenson onboard, the Trust is set to accelerate its impact across the wider Formula One community.
