Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) and Sabelt have launched an all-new high-tech range of motorsport wearables. Comprising a bespoke BAC race suit, racing boots, gloves and fireproof undergarments, the collection exquisitely encapsulates BAC’s stunning design philosophy – one that effortlessly merges form with function.

Tailored to exacting details to match the driver’s design ideation and the individual requirements of their body shape and contours, the new made-to-measure BAC Bespoke race suit further elevates the unique behind-the-wheel experience of the Mono supercar, uniting the driver and the machine as they take to the road or circuit.

Created with Sabelt, a brand steeped in motorsport pedigree, the new BAC suit is made from state-of-the-art breathable and ergonomic materials, incorporating bi-stretch panels and range-topping fire-retardant homologated printing. Echoing the lightweight engineering ethos at the core of BAC’s DNA, the new race suit is one of the lightest ever made. A complex arrangement of high-tech materials and structures means it is just 265g/m2. Full floating sleeves and anti-bunching pre-curved arms have been integrated within the design to ensure the driver remains focused on the high-performance handling of their Mono supercar. Ultra-thin stitching and an elegant honeycomb lining complete the bespoke race suit ensemble.

The BAC Bespoke race suit continues BAC’s focus on tailor-made creations. Available in a base white or base black configuration, the suit features configurable accents that allow the design to complement the driver’s other BAC Bespoke commissions; be it a one-of-a-kind Mono paint scheme or Bespoke helmet design. Further visual personalisation can be undertaken if the driver desires; with spaces allocated for bespoke design placement across the suit, allowing for personalised logos, names and nationalities to be integrated into the design. As with Mono’s made-to-measure seat, the suit is tailored to the driver’s exact measurements to ensure a perfect fit; optimised for driver performance and comfort.

The lightweight BAC race boot has been honed to elevate safety, comfort and performance levels. The boots feature a fire-retardant printed fabric that combines with a carbon fibre insole to provide outstanding stiffness and dexterity against the pedals. The boot’s 3D honeycomb internals offer unrivalled breathability while maximum flexibility for the ankle is realised by a bellowed rear section design, ensuring optimal performance over sustained driving sessions. As with the rest of the BAC wearables range, the boots are manufactured in Italy.

The innovative design of the BAC gloves is informed by pre-curved fingers and external seams to prevent the build-up of pressure points when gripping the tailor-made Mono steering wheel. Thin high-grip patches are printed on the flame-retardant fabric palm and fingers of the gloves to maximize grip without excess weight or mass. An additional thin layer of padding helps protect the heel of the hand without sacrificing an optimal connected feel with the steering wheel.

In addition to the new BAC racing boots and gloves, the brand also collaborated with Sabelt on numerous other high-tech pieces, including fireproof undergarments, balaclava, and socks. BAC and Sabelt have also designed seatbelts. Developed specifically for the Mono line-up, the seatbelts are compatible with HANS devices.

“The all-new BAC line of motorsport wearables has been designed to combine the very best in form and function. Bespoke, meticulously crafted and featuring an array of technologies to ensure safety, performance and comfort levels from behind the wheel of Mono are optimum at all times. This new collection is the perfect addition for any customer wanting to experience the ‘one-of-a-kind’ performance ethos that their BAC supercar has to offer,” said Ian Briggs, co-founder and design director for BAC.

Massimiliano Marsiaj, vice president for Sabelt, added: “We are thrilled to join forces with BAC. Our partnership epitomises the pursuit of peak performance and minimal weight. Through the introduction of a top-of-the-range customised seatbelt for Mono, and a bespoke range of technical racewear, we can not only ensure maximum safety but also further elevate the standards of comfort for an unparalleled driving experience.”

The new motorsport clothing range underlines BAC’s leadership in offering unrivalled bespoke craftsmanship, as the brand extends its personalisation processes to performance wear.

Sitting at the core of BAC’s tenet of ultimate personalization, is meticulously curating each Mono to meet the customer vision. Tailored to perfection, the Mono carbon steering wheel and seat are built around the driver to ensure an impeccable fit.

BAC Bespoke driver wear extends the scope of this personalisation to the driver themselves, with the made-to-measure BAC Bespoke race suit and state-of-the-art BAC Bespoke helmet range allowing drivers to design their wearables to complement the unique livery of their Mono.

The co-created BAC and Sabelt high-tech motorsport collection is the latest edition of wearables from the Liverpool-headquartered supercar maker. The bespoke race suit joins the brand’s growing line of precision-engineered clothing and driver wear designed for extreme function, no matter what type of adventure is in store.

The BAC Gore-Tex jacket combines absolute style with high-tech substance: it’s been carefully designed to connect with the daring aesthetic visual language of the Mono line-up; perfectly cut to form a fitted silhouette around the driving; and thanks to its innovative lightweight structure, it can help keep the driver cool or warm, depending on weather conditions. It is also fully waterproof and windproof.

That same complex arrangement of high-tech materials and structures featured on the new BAC race suit is mimicked within the design of the jacket, further strengthening the line’s form and function. The jacket deploys different textiles in each section depending on their purpose; key areas are reinforced and padded to ensure support for the driver remains consistent while driving, the collar uses GORE-TEX WINDSTOPPER™ material to keep the driver’s neck out of the breeze, and a ribbed grip section on the rear ensures that the jacket doesn’t ride up despite the curved posture while driving. The forearm section serves to reduce glare on the driver in direct sunlight, an innovative aesthetic treatment that is also used across the dash on Mono.

“Our new collection unites the compelling design values of BAC with that of the high-performance intent of the Mono supercar range,” added Ian. “The jacket is as sleek and futuristic looking as the car itself, creating a seamless form that serves to elevate the unique BAC brand experience.”
