Audi Sport has electrified its RS lineage with the all-new RS 5, marking the brand’s first high-performance plug-in hybrid. Combining a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 375 kW (510 PS) with a 130 kW electric motor, the RS 5 delivers a staggering system output of 470 kW (639 PS) and 825 Nm of torque. The result is an impressive 0–62mph sprint in just 3.6 seconds and an optional top speed of 177mph, while also allowing for pure-electric day-to-day driving.
At the heart of its dynamics is a world-first quattro system with Dynamic Torque Control in the rear transaxle. This electro-mechanical torque vectoring distributes power between the rear wheels every five milliseconds, offering precision, agility, and stability in equal measure. Coupled with RS-specific suspension featuring twin-valve shock absorbers, a new centre differential with preload, and large 20- or 21-inch wheels, the RS 5 delivers exceptional handling that balances sportiness and comfort. Drivers can tailor the driving experience via Audi drive select modes, from whisper-quiet all-electric commuting to track-ready RS sport and RS torque rear configurations.
The RS 5’s muscular stance is unmistakably RS, with a body widened by 90mm front and rear, flared fenders, darkened Matrix LED headlights, and a three-dimensional honeycomb Singleframe grille. Aerodynamic enhancements include Air Curtains, a rear diffuser, and matte oval tailpipes of the RS sport exhaust system. The optional Audi Sport package elevates both performance and design further, offering exclusive 21-inch two-tone wheels, ceramic brakes with bronze calipers, Bedford green metallic paint, and an interior accented with Serpentine green stitching.
Inside, the RS 5 continues its driver-focused approach. Sport seats plus with honeycomb quilting provide comfort and lateral support, while the flat-bottom RS steering wheel with integrated RS controls gives instant access to driving modes and the boost function. A 14.5-inch MMI touch display paired with the 11.9-inch virtual cockpit and 10.9-inch passenger display ensures all information, including energy flows and track data, is at the driver’s fingertips. Audi’s driving experience function allows analysis of lap times, sector data, drift angles, and more, making the RS 5 as capable on the track as it is on the road.
Efficiency meets exhilaration with a 25.9 kWh battery capable of 11 kW charging, enabling up to 100 percent charge in 2.5 hours. Intelligent thermal management ensures optimal performance at all times, particularly during RS sport and RS torque rear driving modes. The hybrid system seamlessly integrates combustion and electric power, delivering spontaneous acceleration, regenerative braking, and maximum performance whenever required.
In every facet, the Audi RS 5 exemplifies the evolution of high-performance hybrid technology. It blends electrified efficiency with the unmistakable RS DNA—muscular design, track-capable dynamics, and advanced digital instrumentation—heralding a new era for Audi Sport. UK sales are set to begin mid-2026, with full specification and pricing to follow.
