Ingolstadt, May 28, 2024 – To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the iconic RS 4 Avant, Audi is introducing a special model: the Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years. This performance flagship boasts enhanced driving dynamics and exclusive design features, available in the iconic Imola Yellow finish. Alongside this, Audi is also unveiling the new RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition, which shares the same powertrain upgrades.
A Legacy of Performance Estates
In the 1990s, Audi revolutionized the performance estate segment with the Audi Avant RS2 and Audi S6 plus. However, it was the 1999 B5-generation RS 4 Avant from quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH) that truly set the standard. Featuring a widened body and a 2.7-litre biturbo six-cylinder engine developed in collaboration with Cosworth, it boasted an impressive 380PS output. The sportiest version, the RS4 Sport, debuted in 2001 with enhanced suspension, bucket seats, a sports exhaust, and a suede steering wheel. The RS 4 Avant edition 25 years pays homage to this legacy while standing as the sportiest version of the current B9 series.
Engine: Boosted Performance
The 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine in the new RS 4 Avant edition 25 years now delivers 470PS and 600Nm of torque, a 20PS increase over the regular RS 4 Avant. This upgrade enables the car to sprint from 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the standard version, with a top speed of 186mph. Standard RS ceramic brakes ensure exceptional stopping power, and the RS sports exhaust system plus, with matt black tailpipes, provides an exhilarating soundtrack.

Suspension: Precision Dynamics
The RS 4 Avant edition 25 years features RS sports suspension pro, a manually adjustable coilover system that perfectly balances dynamics and comfort. This setup lowers the ride height by 10mm compared to the regular RS 4 Avant, with an additional 10mm drop possible for an overall 20mm reduction. The quattro sport differential enhances agility and driving fun, especially in dynamic mode. Updated transmission software ensures faster shifting and a broader range of driving modes.
Enhanced Handling
Exclusive to the anniversary edition, the front axle now features increased negative camber and stiffer control arms, resulting in improved grip and cornering speeds. A fixed subframe on the rear axle and an improved Torsen differential contribute to better suspension feedback and overall performance.
Wheels and Tyres: Track-Ready Performance
Standard Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance tyres, wrapped around machined 20-inch alloy wheels in matt palladium, ensure the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years is ready for both road and racetrack. Customers also receive Pirelli sensorized P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick tyres and the Pirelli Track Adrenaline system, offering exceptional grip in dry conditions and real-time tyre management information.
Design: A Nod to the Past
The RS 4 Avant edition 25 years is available in Imola Yellow, Nardo Grey, and Mythos Black. Exclusive design elements include glossy black window trims, a black inlay in the rear lights, and gloss black Audi rings and lettering. The Matrix LED headlights feature darkened bezels, and the vehicle’s sportier silhouette is accentuated by the removal of roof rails.
Interior highlights include yellow decorative stitching reminiscent of the 2001 RS4 Sport’s black/yellow leather Alcantara combination. The RS bucket seats feature deep black leather/Dinamica with yellow stitching, and RS 4 edition 25 years lettering is engraved in the windows between the C- and D-pillars. Each car’s sequential number is displayed on the centre console, emphasizing the edition’s exclusivity.
The Most Powerful Audi RS 5
The new Audi RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition also receives a power boost, with its V6 biturbo engine now producing 470PS and 600Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the standard model, and reaches a top speed of 186 mph. This limited edition, with only 10 units available in the UK, features RS sports suspension pro with progressive steering and an improved Torsen differential.
