Ansible Motion, a global leader in advanced driving simulation technology, is set to become the first tenant at MotorSport Vision’s newly developed Innovation Park in Snetterton, Norfolk. The move marks a significant milestone for the company, as it doubles the size of its operations, transitioning from its long-time base in Hethel to a state-of-the-art facility adjacent to the renowned Snetterton Circuit.
The relocation not only enhances Ansible Motion’s physical footprint but also strengthens its ties with the motorsport community. Known for its Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulation environments, Ansible Motion has earned the trust of some of the world’s top automotive manufacturers and motorsports teams, including Ford, Honda, BMW Group, General Motors, and Continental. The expanded facility at Innovation Park will allow Ansible Motion to further elevate its global operations, cementing its role as a key player in automotive simulation technology.
A New Chapter for Snetterton
The development of Innovation Park represents a broader vision for Snetterton, spearheaded by MotorSport Vision, Europe’s largest motor racing circuit operator. Jonathan Palmer, chief executive of MotorSport Vision, expressed excitement about welcoming Ansible Motion to the park. “This is a very exciting time for Snetterton. Welcoming Ansible Motion and pushing forward with wider development plans is a real boost to the local economy,” Palmer said. “The development will give new life to the circuit and bring new race teams, motorsport businesses, and advanced engineering firms to the area.”
The 13-hectare Innovation Park is designed to be a hub of cutting-edge motorsport and engineering enterprises, offering 30,000 square metres of commercial office space, industrial units, and motorsport workshops. Plans also include a hotel with a café and electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities, positioning the park as a future-forward destination for innovative businesses.
A Strategic Fit for Ansible Motion
For Ansible Motion, the move to Snetterton is a natural evolution. With its strong motorsport heritage and continued collaboration with professional teams across F1, WRC, WEC, IndyCar, and off-road racing, the proximity to one of the UK’s premier racetracks enhances its capabilities. Dan Clark, managing director of Ansible Motion, noted, “Relocating to a simulation centre adjacent to Snetterton Circuit is an excellent fit for us. Our company has a long motorsport heritage, and we continue to work with professional teams at the pinnacle of the sport.”
Beyond motorsport, the new facility will enable Ansible Motion to integrate all aspects of its research and development, design, and manufacturing under one roof. This consolidation, along with the increased capacity, will support the company’s ambitious growth plans. Clark outlined, “We currently employ 55 staff, and it’s our intention to grow to approximately 90 over the next three years following the move.”
Pioneering the Future of Driving Simulation
Since its founding in 2009, Ansible Motion has been at the forefront of driving simulation technology. Its Driver-in-the-Loop simulators, used by both automotive manufacturers and research organisations, offer a unique combination of advanced computational and mechanical performance capabilities. These simulators allow real drivers to engage with imagined vehicles and systems in highly immersive virtual environments, offering invaluable insights for product development and research.
In 2022, Ansible Motion’s reputation for innovation was further solidified when it was acquired by AB Dynamics plc, a leading specialist in automotive testing. This acquisition has empowered Ansible Motion to continue pushing the boundaries of simulation technology, ensuring that its products remain at the cutting edge of the industry.
A Catalyst for Local Growth
Ansible Motion’s move to Innovation Park is not just a win for the company but also for the local economy in Norfolk. As one of the first businesses to join the park, it sets a precedent for the kind of high-tech, forward-thinking companies that the site aims to attract. Jonathan Palmer highlighted this significance, stating, “Ansible Motion is exactly the type of business we are seeking to attract and work with, so we are delighted that they will be spearheading the Innovation Park.”
The expansion of Snetterton Circuit and the creation of a dynamic ecosystem of motorsport and engineering businesses are expected to have a lasting impact on the region, creating new opportunities for employment and innovation.
With the arrival of Ansible Motion, the Innovation Park is set to become a beacon of technological advancement, driving the future of both motorsport and automotive development.
