Johannesburg, South Africa – The roar of engines, the thrill of the track, and the shared love for all things automotive return in full force as the Festival of Motoring powered by WesBank gears up for its 8th edition. Taking place at the legendary Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 29–31 August 2025, this year’s event promises to unite Africa’s motoring community under the resonant theme of Ubuntu“I am because we are.”

More than just a showcase of speed and style, the Festival of Motoring (FoM) is an immersive celebration of the human connection that cars create — a platform where automotive passion meets purpose, and where industry leaders and consumers stand shoulder to shoulder in admiration of mobility’s past, present, and exciting future.

A Living, Breathing Celebration of Community

As the motoring world continues to evolve, the Festival remains a steadfast beacon of innovation and inclusion. Michael Dehn, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt South Africa, encapsulates the essence of the event:

“The Festival of Motoring is about more than just cars — it’s about people, passion, and the unity that the automotive world fosters. With WesBank as our naming rights partner, we look forward to delivering an experiential motoring experience.”

Lebo Gaoaketse, Head of Marketing and Communication at WesBank, echoes the sentiment:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Messe Frankfurt South Africa, united in our shared vision to deliver South Africa’s definitive automotive event. The festival thrives on the collective effort and collaboration of all involved. We are excited to see how, together, we can surpass previous achievements and showcase the very best the automotive industry has to offer.”

The Brands Behind the Buzz

Expect a commanding presence from major automotive names. The 2025 pit and zone lineup includes Volkswagen, VW Commercial, Toyota, GAC, Suzuki, BAIC, GWM, Haval, Ora, Tank, Chery, Mahindra, Isuzu, LDV, and Subaru, alongside more than 100 automotive lifestyle exhibitors. From cutting-edge accessories and mobility solutions to interactive product demonstrations, visitors will be immersed in the latest the industry has to offer.

Get Behind the Wheel — Literally

The Festival’s famed Self-Handling Track returns, inviting visitors to test their driving prowess in a controlled environment, while the 4×4 Adventure Zone delivers a thrill for off-road enthusiasts eager to tackle rugged terrain. Thanks to new sponsor Santam, the Adventure Zone and premium hospitality experiences have been elevated for 2025.

Nondumiso Mabece, Head of Brand and Marketing at Santam, notes:

“The sponsorship of the Festival of Motoring enables us to connect directly with vehicle owners who are key decision-makers in purchasing insurance. The Adventure Zone and Self-handling Track are strategic areas where Santam will offer a customer-focused and interactive experience, highlighting a variety of insurance products and value-added services.”

Expect excitement for all ages with a family-friendly mini carnival and an upgraded Santam Premium Suite perched on the Sarel van der Merwe rooftop terrace, offering sweeping views of the circuit and first-class hospitality.

Thrills, Time Trials and Two-Wheeled Adrenaline

For those craving high-octane excitement, 2025 introduces the Vilaca Racing Ultimate Car and Driver Challenge, a three-day time attack competition testing both driver mettle and machine muscle.

Also returning are fan-favourites such as:

  • BMW Motorsport Club Series
  • Simola Hill Climb demonstrations
  • MasterDrive performance sessions

Get your heart racing as Formula One-type vehicles thunder through demonstration laps, and prepare for edge-of-your-seat action with the Sunbet ZX10 Masters Cup Superbikes, which will hold two official rounds live on the Kyalami circuit.

Getting There — and Getting Around

Thanks to SANI Car Rental, festival-goers can enjoy complimentary shuttle services from the Mall of Africa, while internal circuit shuttles powered by Volkswagen, Isuzu, and Haval ensure a seamless journey between experiences.

Early bird tickets are available now via www.howler.co.za until end April, offering reduced rates:

A Platform with Purpose

Judy Maharaj, Show Director of the Festival of Motoring, reflects on the festival’s broader impact:

“The Festival of Motoring is more than a showcase of cars; it is a platform that affirms car buying as an essential milestone in the journey toward a fulfilling life. We salute the exhibitors for standing alongside their most important stakeholders — the consumers. They embody the true spirit of Ubuntu. The Festival of Motoring is where Africa’s automotive heart beats strongest.”
