Yokohama, Japan – 16 June 2025 — The Nissan Formula E Team has announced an exciting new chapter in its driver development programme with the signing of rising British star Abbi Pulling on a multi-year agreement. The 2024 F1 Academy champion will join the team as its official rookie and simulator driver, reinforcing Nissan’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent in world-class motorsport.
At just 22, Pulling arrives with a formidable resume and a growing reputation as one of the most promising young drivers in international competition. Her standout performance during Formula E’s first-ever all-women’s test at Madrid’s Circuito del Jarama in November—where she impressively topped the timesheets—has cemented her status as a name to watch.
A Natural Fit for Formula E
Pulling’s appointment signals more than a token gesture; it represents a strategic investment in a driver whose trajectory continues to soar. Her responsibilities will extend well beyond the simulator, encompassing rookie testing, race preparation, and crucial development work using the team’s all-new Dynisma simulator ahead of Season 12.
Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of Nissan Formula E Team, expressed his enthusiasm:
“We’re very pleased to welcome Abbi to the team as our official rookie and simulator driver on a multi-year agreement. We were very impressed with her speed, commitment, and professionalism during the all-women’s test in Madrid last November. She adapted incredibly quickly to the car and topped the timesheets — an achievement that is no small feat in any series, let alone in the complex world of Formula E. She is the perfect candidate to grow with us in this role.”

Trailblazer and Champion
Abbi Pulling’s rise through the motorsport ranks has been marked by a series of firsts. She became the first female driver to claim a race victory in British F4, and her dominance in the 2024 F1 Academy season earned her the championship title in convincing fashion. This year, she’s added GB3 experience to her portfolio, with a strong fifth-place finish at the Silverstone season opener already under her belt.
Speaking on her new role, Pulling shared her excitement:
“I’m really excited to be joining Nissan Formula E Team and extending our collaboration together, after driving for the squad during the all-women’s test in Jarama. Everything the team did for me during the test was so professional. The time and effort put in to make sure I was prepared was great to see, and the crew were patient with me as a rookie.
“The GEN3 Evo car is so unique, especially the 350kW mode in all-wheel drive which was very fun to use! It’s different from anything I’ve driven before, and it took some time to adjust to the increased power. I’m looking forward to my work in the simulator and to take the car on track as well when the opportunities arise.”
Investing in the Future
Pulling’s arrival comes at a pivotal moment for Nissan as the team prepares for a new era of electric racing with upgraded technology, fresh energy, and a future-focused outlook. Her role will be pivotal in fine-tuning performance both virtually and on-track, playing a part in setting the foundation for continued success as the sport evolves.
As Nissan Formula E Team gears up for the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Pulling’s involvement promises to bring a new layer of dynamism and innovation to an already formidable operation. With talent, tenacity, and a championship mindset, she is poised to make a lasting impact—one lap at a time.
