Nissan GB has announced the appointment of James Taylor as its new managing director, effective 1st May 2025. Taylor, an experienced automotive leader, joins the company during a pivotal moment as Nissan prepares for a series of major product launches, including the much-anticipated all-new MICRA EV, the latest iteration of the LEAF EV, and the next-generation e-POWER hybrid technology in the Qashqai.
With more than two decades of expertise in automotive sales and marketing, Taylor arrives at Nissan with a strong background in leadership roles, most recently serving as the managing director at Vauxhall Motors Ltd. In his new position at Nissan, Taylor will report directly to Mayra González, divisional vice president for marketing and sales at Nissan Europe.
“These are very dynamic times for the automotive industry so now, more than ever, we need to be agile and responsive to business needs and customer demands,” Taylor commented. “Nissan already makes two of the UK’s top-selling cars, has exciting new products on the way, and is a brand with real momentum. I look forward to working with the Nissan team, its dealer partners, and other stakeholders to navigate current industry challenges and build the business for sustainable future success.”

Taylor’s appointment comes at a time when Nissan is accelerating its electrification strategy in the UK market. The company is set to release an upgraded version of its iconic Qashqai with e-POWER technology, followed by four new electric vehicles in the coming years. These launches include the all-new MICRA EV and LEAF EV in 2025, with the Juke EV and a new city car planned for 2026. The electrified product offensive is central to Nissan’s strategy to expand its presence in the UK, and Taylor’s leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the company maximizes this opportunity.
Mayra González, divisional vice president for marketing and sales at Nissan Europe, expressed her enthusiasm about Taylor’s appointment: “We are happy to welcome James to the UK team and congratulate him on this appointment. 2025 is a hugely important year for Nissan’s largest European market, and his experience will be invaluable as we strengthen our operations, accelerate our electrification plans, and evolve our network strategy to better serve our customers and support our dealers.”
James Taylor’s career began at Vauxhall, where he initially worked in market analysis and sales operations. Over the years, he held several key roles within the company, including business and contract hire manager, and director positions in fleet sales and marketing. He also served as B2B director at Stellantis before returning to Vauxhall as managing director.
In taking over from Diana Torres as managing director of Nissan GB, Taylor inherits a company at the forefront of the UK automotive market, with an electrified product lineup poised to redefine the brand’s future. Under his leadership, Nissan is well-positioned to strengthen its market share and drive innovation in the UK automotive industry.
As Nissan accelerates its journey toward a fully electrified future, Taylor’s vision will be vital in shaping the company’s strategy for growth and sustainability in one of Europe’s most competitive automotive markets.
