Alpine Cars, the French sports and premium brand celebrating its 70th anniversary, will showcase a truly remarkable trio of Alpine A110s at Retromobile Classic 2026, held from January 28th to February 1st. The display brings together two historically significant first-generation A110 Berlinettes alongside the most extreme and exclusive A110 ever created: the A110R Ultime. Together, these three cars tell the story of Alpine’s legacy, from its motorsport glory days to its modern, track-focused performance.
ALPINE A110 1600 SX – THE LAST OF A LEGEND
At the heart of this celebration is the Alpine A110 1600 SX, one of the final Berlinettes produced at the Dieppe plant in 1977. Delivered new to its original owner and retained ever since, this car embodies the purity of the original Berlinette philosophy. Its rare green ‘Vert Normandy’ paint, affectionately nicknamed “Berliverte” by enthusiasts, cloaks a lightweight fiberglass and polyester body mounted on a backbone chassis.
Under the rear-mounted 1,647cc inline four-cylinder engine, producing 95hp, the 1600 SX demonstrates a delicate balance of agility and performance. Weighing just 790kg, with double wishbone suspension all around and four-disc brakes, it can reach a top speed of 195km/h, delivering a driving experience that is as raw and engaging today as it was nearly 50 years ago.
ALPINE A110 1800S GROUP 4 – RALLY LEGEND
Joining the 1600 SX is a true motorsport icon: the Alpine A110 1800S Group 4. Built in September 1975 for the Alpine works team, this rally Berlinette competed at the highest level of international motorsport, including the 1975 World Rally Championship. Lightweight at just 710kg and powered by a 1,796cc inline-four engine producing 170hp, the car couples a reinforced five-speed gearbox with rear-wheel drive to deliver razor-sharp handling and blistering performance.
The 1800S Group 4 carries a storied competition pedigree, including second overall at the 1975 Tour de Corse with Jean-Pierre Nicolas and Vincent Laverne, and outright victory at the 1976 Tour Auto of Réunion Island with Jean Ragnotti and Jean-Pierre Aujoulet. Its iconic Berlinette silhouette and backbone chassis make it an enduring symbol of Alpine’s golden era in rallying.
ALPINE A110R ULTIME – THE MOST EXTREME A110 EVER CREATED
Bridging the past with the present, the Alpine A110R Ultime represents the pinnacle of the second-generation A110. Limited to just 110 units worldwide and already sold out, this road-legal race car combines a lightweight structure with a GT4-derived engine, delivering 345hp, 420Nm of torque, and a 0–100km/h sprint in just 3.8 seconds. Its chassis, suspension, brakes, and aerodynamics have all been extensively upgraded, with adjustable Öhlins suspension and Michelin Cup 2 tires ensuring that the car performs as fiercely on track as it looks striking in its signature La Bleue gradient livery.
The La Bleue livery, handcrafted at Alpine’s Manufacture Jean Rédélé in Dieppe, merges two shades of blue in a progressive gradient that celebrates the brand’s identity. The A110R Ultime also introduces Alpine’s most advanced customisation programme ever, with 27 body colours, multiple wheel and brake caliper finishes, and extensive interior options—allowing owners to tailor each detail to their personal vision.
A CELEBRATION OF ALPINE HERITAGE
The Retromobile Classic 2026 display is more than a showcase of cars; it is a celebration of Alpine’s 70-year history. From the first-generation Berlinettes that defined lightweight sports car design to the modern A110R Ultime that pushes the boundaries of track-focused performance, the trio of A110s embodies the spirit of a brand that continues to inspire automotive enthusiasts worldwide.
With production of the current second-generation A110 ending in June 2026, and orders closing at the end of March, this event marks the final months of an era. The Alpine A110 has proven that its blend of design, engineering, and driving purity remains timeless—both on the road and in the hearts of enthusiasts everywhere.
