The MG ZS Hybrid+ has been crowned Best Small Fleet SUV at the 2026 Great British Fleet Awards, a recognition that underscores how rapidly the compact SUV segment is evolving in the face of rising expectations from fleet operators and business drivers. Judged by an independent panel of automotive market analysts, the award highlights vehicles that deliver a careful balance of value, practicality and real-world efficiency, particularly for high-mileage users who rely on their vehicles as essential business tools rather than lifestyle luxuries.
At the heart of the ZS Hybrid+’s appeal is a powertrain that blends accessibility with sophistication. It combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 102PS with a 136PS electric motor delivering 250Nm of torque, resulting in a combined output of 196PS. Supported by a compact 1.83kWh battery, the system enables brisk acceleration of 0 to 62mph in just 8.7 seconds, while also achieving impressive efficiency figures of up to 55.4mpg (WLTP combined) and CO₂ emissions as low as 115g/km.
Fleet World Editor Simon Harris, who chaired the judging panel, praised the model’s ability to challenge expectations in its segment, noting that its “sophisticated powertrain delivers impressive refinement and efficiency, proving that choosing a budget-friendly small SUV no longer requires compromising on drive quality.” That sentiment captures the broader shift taking place in the fleet market, where electrified powertrains are increasingly expected to deliver both cost savings and a more refined driving experience.
MG Motor UK has positioned the ZS Hybrid+ as a key pillar in its electrified strategy, and Deputy Director of Fleet Geraint Isaac emphasised the importance of the recognition, highlighting the system’s “exceptional efficiency, refinement and real-world usability” as core strengths. He also pointed to the brand’s broader commitment to customer-focused engineering, particularly as hybrid and electric technologies become more central to everyday fleet operations.
Beyond its drivetrain credentials, the MG ZS Hybrid+ offers a strong case on specification and value. Available in SE and Trophy trims, it is priced from £22,995 and £25,495 respectively. Even the entry SE model is generously equipped, featuring LED daytime running lights, a 12.3-inch HD infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite navigation, a 7-inch digital driver display, keyless entry and rear parking assistance with camera support.
Stepping up to Trophy specification adds further comfort and convenience, including leather-style upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a 360-degree HD camera system, rear privacy glass and larger 18-inch alloy wheels.
Safety remains a key pillar of the package through MG Pilot, a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems that includes adaptive cruise control, active emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and traffic jam assist, reinforcing its suitability for demanding fleet environments.
The ZS Hybrid+ was not the only MG model to feature prominently at the awards, with both the MG HS and MGS6 EV shortlisted as finalists in their respective categories, signalling growing recognition of MG’s expanding presence across multiple fleet segments.
In a market where efficiency, cost control and driver satisfaction must coexist, the MG ZS Hybrid+ has positioned itself as a compelling answer. Its award win reflects not just competitive pricing, but a broader redefinition of what fleet-ready capability now looks like in the compact SUV space.
