In a bold move following the UK Government’s decision against reinstating incentives for private electric vehicle (EV) buyers, Mazda UK has significantly lowered the price of its MX-30 electric SUV. The price reduction of over £3,000, along with a 0% APR PCP deal, positions the MX-30 as the most cost-effective EV SUV on the British market today.
Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director at Mazda UK, expressed disappointment over the lack of government incentives in the recent budget but highlighted Mazda’s commitment to making EVs more accessible. “Although the budget did not extend incentives to private EV buyers, we are proactive in adjusting our pricing to make the MX-30 more affordable,” Thomson stated.

The new pricing strategy sets the starting price of the MX-30 at £27,995, making it comparable to many petrol-driven family cars and one of the most affordable EVs available. Mazda is also offering a substantial £6,000 deposit contribution, bringing the monthly payment down to just £199.
Mazda’s approach goes beyond pricing adjustments. Thomson emphasized the need to shift the public discourse concerning EVs—from focusing merely on range to considering usability, the installation of home charging systems, improved public charging infrastructure, and government policies that support the full ownership lifecycle.
Highlighting the practicality of the MX-30, Thomson noted, “Our analysis of 1.5 million Mazda cars in the UK shows the average daily mileage is only 26 miles. The MX-30 is ideal for those needing a second vehicle or a commuter car with shorter range requirements, enhanced by the convenience of a free Pod Point home charger.”
