More than just an eye-catching installation, the billboard releases real bubbles into the air, inviting passersby to pause, look up, and feel something extraordinary.
The Bubble Billboard is a cornerstone of Mazda’s “The Feeling Will Find You” campaign, which embodies the brand’s new-generation design philosophy—less about mechanics, more about emotion, connection, and joy. Each floating bubble is a playful reminder of how driving a Mazda makes you feel: light, free, and wonderfully alive.
“We wanted to create something that doesn’t just tell people what Mazda stands for but lets them experience it. The Bubble Billboard is more than an ad; it’s a feeling,” says Deolinda da Costa, Head of Marketing and Communications at Mazda Southern Africa. “It’s that little spark of wonder you get behind the wheel of a Mazda, where design, emotion, and experience come together to make every drive something you truly feel.”
Strategically located at Menlyn, one of South Africa’s busiest retail and commuter hubs, the installation has quickly become a talking point. With each bubble that drifts across the skyline, Mazda’s creative message comes alive, reminding everyone that sometimes it’s the smallest moments that move us most.
Following its debut in Menlyn, the Bubble Billboard will continue to spread joy across the country, arriving in Sandton (Winnie Mandela Drive) in December and Melville/Franklin Roosevelt Park, Johannesburg (facing traffic from Northcliff, Cresta, and Linden) in January. Each stop encourages South Africans to pause, look up, and rediscover the wonder in everyday moments—mirroring the sense of delight Mazda aims to evoke in every drive.
