JAC Motors has reported impressive sales momentum, with its flagship T9 achieving a 30% year-on-year increase by July 2025, following its South African debut in May 2024. Powered by a 2.0L CTi engine, the T9 has quickly gained recognition for its fuel efficiency, comprehensive specification list, and outstanding value. This success has contributed to a 36% year-on-year uplift across the entire T-Series range, which includes the T8 and T6 double-cab models. Overall, JAC Motors’ total sales rose by 49% for the same period.
The brand is set to sustain this growth with the forthcoming introduction of the limited-edition T9 Hunter and the highly anticipated T9 PHEV. The line-up will also be expanded with the addition of the T6 2.0L CTi single-cab, further strengthening the company’s offering and broadening customer choice.
Recognition of JAC Motors’ international impact was reinforced in June when the company advanced in the 2025 Kantar BrandZ Chinese Global Brands ranking. It secured fifth place in the automotive category, climbing one position, and moved up three spots overall to 28th place. This marks JAC Motors’ fifth consecutive year on the prestigious list since its debut in 2021.
“We are privileged to represent a well-established brand with more than 60 years of heritage, operating in over 130 countries,” said Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa. “After eight years of local trading, South Africa now ranks among JAC Motors China’s Top 10 distributors, adding another significant milestone to our track record.”

In August, JAC Motors South Africa welcomed its first T9 PHEVs, reflecting increasing demand for alternative-energy vehicles. Ahead of its launch, the model will undergo rigorous testing under local conditions to evaluate performance, energy efficiency, fuel consumption, and off-road capability—ensuring it meets customer expectations in the region.
The new T9 2.0L PHEV integrates a 2.0L turbo-petrol engine delivering 160 kW and 370 Nm with dual Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs). The front motor produces 60 kW (peak 130 kW) and 150 Nm (peak 300 Nm), while the rear generates 70 kW (peak 150 kW) and 150 Nm (peak 340 Nm). Together, this advanced hybrid system delivers a formidable 290 kW and 670 Nm of torque.
“We are excited to introduce state-of-the-art electric vehicles to our local range,” Göbel concluded. “With our leadership in battery-electric trucks, the T9 PHEV adds a compelling green-energy option to our line-up, empowering customers to embrace sustainable and innovative mobility solutions.”
As JAC Motors South Africa marks its eighth anniversary in September 2025, the company continues to expand its presence across Southern Africa. With more than 70 dealerships spanning Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Eswatini, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Mozambique (independently operated), JAC Motors ensures world-class after-sales support and a consistently positive customer experience throughout the region.
