Caterham has unveiled one of its most focused special editions yet, introducing the Seven Nürburgring Edition to celebrate 100 years of the world’s most famous and feared race circuit. Limited to just 100 examples worldwide, the lightweight British sports car arrives as both a tribute to the Nürburgring’s racing legacy and a machine engineered specifically for the circuit’s brutal demands.
The model made its debut ahead of the 2026 ADAC 24 Hours Nürburgring, a fitting stage for a car shaped by one of motorsport’s most unforgiving proving grounds. The Nürburgring Edition will be available through Caterham’s global dealer network, with UK pricing starting from £48,995 including VAT.
At the heart of the car sits a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine producing 210bhp at 7,600rpm. Combined with Caterham’s famously featherweight construction, the result is a power-to-weight ratio of 375bhp per tonne. Paired with a five-speed gearbox, the Seven Nürburgring Edition launches from 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 136mph.
What separates this model from previous special editions is the suspension package developed exclusively with Bilstein. Using advanced vertical dynamics testing equipment at Bilstein’s dedicated facility, engineers created a bespoke setup specifically tuned around the Nürburgring’s unique combination of elevation changes, compressions and high-speed corners.
Rather than chasing outright stiffness, the suspension has been engineered to balance precision and compliance across both road and track use. That approach reflects the Nürburgring itself, a circuit known for exposing weaknesses in both machines and drivers across its demanding 73 corners.
Visually, the Nürburgring Edition wears its inspiration proudly. As an officially licensed Nürburgring product, the car carries the circuit’s branding and signature colours throughout the design. Buyers can choose from three dedicated paint finishes including Verkehrsrot, Achatgrau and Basaltgrau, while bespoke paint options remain available for customers seeking something more individual.
Exterior upgrades include a Nürburgring red track-day roll bar, carbon front wings, a mesh grille with dual-colour Seven badging and a 620-style nose cone complete with carbon aero whiskers. The Gunmetal Grey chassis contrasts against the bodywork, while the Black Pack adds darker trim elements such as the windscreen frame, exhaust heat shield and headlamp bowls. LED rear lights and a composite aero screen complete the aggressive appearance.
Inside, the cabin continues the track-focused theme without abandoning the sense of occasion expected from a limited-run model. Leather seats feature Nürburgring embroidery and red stitching, matched by stitching along the transmission tunnel. Carbon interior panels, four-point harnesses and sequential shift lights reinforce the car’s motorsport intent, while an individually numbered plaque reminds owners that they are sitting inside one of only 100 examples ever built.
The Nürburgring itself remains central to the car’s identity. Nicknamed the “Green Hell” by Sir Jackie Stewart, the 12.9-mile circuit in Germany’s Eifel Mountains has spent a century testing manufacturers, racing teams and drivers at the very highest level.
Caterham’s own history at the circuit stretches back decades, with the brand enjoying success in both road and endurance racing categories. Among its standout moments was an impressive 11th-place finish at the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2002, driven by Chris Cooper, Chris Harris, Clive Richards and Peter Haynes.
Trevor Steel, Senior Vice President of Operations at Caterham Cars, said the Nürburgring Edition was designed to capture the essence of the circuit itself.
“For a century, this track has championed values that are at the heart of what the Seven is all about - balance, precision and an unmatched driving experience,” he said.
“We set out to capture the spirit of the ‘Ring, with every element of the car being honed to reflect the track’s unique demands and character. Designed both for use on the track and the road, the Seven Nürburgring Edition is a unique vehicle that perfectly pays tribute to this famous, globally renowned circuit.”
Fans attending the 2026 ADAC 24 Hours Nürburgring will be able to see the car on display at the Caterham Nürburgring dealership and at the Bilstein stand throughout the race weekend.
For enthusiasts seeking a raw, lightweight driving experience inspired by one of motorsport’s most iconic venues, the Seven Nürburgring Edition stands as a fitting tribute to a century of speed and engineering excellence.
