BMW has honed its performance SUV portfolio, sharpening the BMW XM offering to two electrified models – with the formidable XM Label now standing alone as the only variant powered by a V8. As the most powerful M model ever to enter production, the XM Label underscores BMW’s unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries in design, performance, and electrified mobility.
Unveiled at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – an event that symbolises peak endurance and engineering excellence – the XM Label sets a new benchmark for plug-in hybrid performance in the luxury segment. It now not only represents the pinnacle of the XM range but also reflects the evolution of the BMW M division’s hybrid ambitions.
V8 Power, Electrified Precision
At the heart of the BMW XM Label lies the M HYBRID system – a combination of an electrified V8 engine and a high-performance electric motor integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The result is a staggering system output of 550 kW (748 hp) and 1,000 Nm of torque, catapulting the XM Label from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, with the optional M Driver’s Package extending this to 290 km/h.
While BMW has retained the six-cylinder XM 50e as an accessible entry point into the electrified M SUV segment, it is the XM Label that now embodies the model’s true ethos – performance without compromise, bold design, and expressive luxury.
More Customisation, Higher Charging Capability
For 2025, BMW has added a suite of new equipment and design features to the XM Label. On the exterior, the new optional BMW Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic finish adds a sophisticated shimmer, while the high-gloss black trim on the signature M kidney grille enhances its assertive road presence. A newly introduced Welcome Light Animation ensures the XM makes a statement even before the ignition is engaged.
The SUV’s visual stance is bolstered by newly standard 22-inch double-spoke alloy wheels (Style 922 M Bicolour), with 23-inch Style 1096 M wheels in black offered as an option.
Inside, BMW extends its palette of luxury materials and colours, including Night Blue Merino leather with exclusive trim elements, Black Merino leather with Vintage Coffee Brown surfaces, and a striking Silverstone/Black two-tone leather option. All Merino leather interiors now include colour-matched comfort cushions as standard, reinforcing the XM Label’s focus on indulgent detail.
On the tech front, the XM Label’s charging capability has been upgraded to 11 kW AC, significantly reducing charging times and improving everyday usability of its plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Sonic Statement from Carl Cox
In a unique celebration of the XM’s distinct character, legendary British DJ Carl Cox has collaborated with BMW M to create an auditory experience inspired by the car itself. Using a mix of V8 engine sounds, chimes and even the satisfying closure of the bonnet, Cox has translated the XM’s personality into a musical composition that mirrors its confidence and individuality.
Global Stage Debut at Le Mans
Fittingly, the updated XM Label makes its premiere at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, where BMW M Motorsport will contest the iconic endurance race with the BMW M Hybrid V8. The timing underscores BMW’s strategic link between road and race, and the XM Label’s rightful place as a technological and performance flagship.
