YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Formula E Team heads to Miami this weekend for Round 3 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, aiming to build on a promising start to the season. The championship returns to the United States for the first time since 2015, this year at the brand-new Miami International Autodrome.
Season 11 Drivers’ World Champion Oliver Rowland has started his title defense in impressive fashion, securing podium finishes in both São Paulo and Mexico City. The Brit now sits third in the Drivers’ Standings and will be looking to extend his consistent form in Miami.
Team-mate Norman Nato has also shown strong pace over the opening rounds, though in-race incidents have prevented him from converting potential into points. The French driver has historically performed well on U.S. soil, consistently finishing in the top ten, and last year he claimed pole position and crossed the line first in Miami before a post-race penalty relegated him to sixth.
Ahead of the main event, Nissan will field rookie and simulator driver Abbi Pulling, alongside Formula 2 competitor Gabriele Minì, in the Rookie Free Practice session. The session, scheduled for 14:30 local time on Friday, will be key in gathering critical track data before Rowland and Nato make their first laps on the circuit.
The Miami International Autodrome is a 2.32-kilometre track featuring 14 turns, combining a technical first half with long straights and heavy braking zones in the latter section. Turns 11 and 13 are expected to be prime overtaking opportunities, while the smoother surface of the circuit contrasts sharply with the bumpy layouts of São Paulo and Mexico City.
Following the rookie session, Rowland and Nato will take to the track for FP1 at 17:00 on Friday. Saturday begins with FP2 at 07:30, followed by qualifying at 09:40 and the E-Prix at 14:05.
Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, commented: “We’re delighted to be heading back to Miami and to take on a brand-new track for Round 3 of the season. The United States is an important market for Nissan, so we’re thrilled to race here and aim to put on a great show for our fans. We’ve started well in São Paulo and Mexico City, so our goal is to maintain that momentum and score strong points with both cars. The Rookie Free Practice with Abbi and Gabriele will be invaluable in helping us understand this new circuit before Oli and Norman take over. It’s a very different track to the previous rounds, so we’ll be making every session count to ensure the car is perfectly set up for qualifying and the race.”
Rowland added: “Podiums in the first two races have been a strong way to start the season. The grid is extremely competitive, so consistency is key. Miami presents a relatively short lap and fewer energy-saving challenges, so it will be a different type of race. Having Abbi and Gabriele on track for Rookie Free Practice will help us gather crucial data. I’m aiming to make progress in qualifying and will be pushing hard for another podium on Saturday.”
Nato said: “I’m happy with how we’ve performed so far, even if the points don’t fully reflect our pace. I feel comfortable in the car in both qualifying and races, and I’m excited to return to Miami. The short track means qualifying will be tight, and overtaking will be challenging, so we need to capitalize on every opportunity to score points.”
Reserve and development driver Sam Bird also weighed in: “Miami is another new challenge for the championship. The circuit offers high levels of grip, which should make for intense battles at the front and exciting pack racing. The key will be finding the right set-up early to ensure we’re in contention when the race goes flat out. Expect some thrilling wheel-to-wheel action, particularly down the back straight and into Turn 1.”
With strong momentum in the opening rounds and a new track to tackle, Nissan Formula E Team will be aiming for maximum points in Miami as the championship continues to heat up.
