McLaren Automotive has announced the eagerly anticipated calendar for the inaugural 2025 McLaren Trophy America championship, set to debut next spring. This new championship will feature ten thrilling rounds across five renowned venues, mirroring its successful European counterpart.
Established in Europe for the 2023 season, the McLaren Trophy is crafted to challenge serious race drivers in intense 50-minute races with driver-change pitstops. The championship showcases the 585PS V6 twin-turbo, carbon-fibre chassis Artura Trophy race car, and also welcomes competitors driving the older 570S Trophy models.
The McLaren Trophy America championship will kick off in late March 2025 at Northern California’s Sonoma Raceway. Each round will support the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS. The championship will then head to Texas’ iconic Circuit of the Americas, a venue that has hosted the US Grand Prix for over a decade.
Mid-season action will heat up at Virginia International Raceway in July, followed by the challenging Road America circuit in Wisconsin in August. The inaugural season will culminate in October at the prestigious Indianapolis road circuit, promising a spectacular finale.
The series features bespoke McLaren Artura Trophy race cars, which incorporate much of the cutting-edge technology found in the acclaimed McLaren Artura road car. This includes the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA), providing a lightweight yet rigid chassis for supreme racetrack performance and exceptional impact resistance.

Powering the Artura Trophy is the same twin-turbo V6 engine as the road model, delivering an impressive 585PS. This setup ensures phenomenal straight-line speed and exceptional cornering abilities, thanks to the engine’s 120-degree angle placement low in the chassis. An aerodynamic package, including a high downforce rear wing, further enhances performance, allowing the Artura Trophy to rival GT3 class cars in lap times while maximizing driver engagement.
Independent teams will run the cars, with existing 570S Trophy cars also eligible to compete for class wins and championships. McLaren Motorsport will provide full support, including replacement parts and backup, at every round.
Among the first teams to sign up is McLaren Toronto, the McLaren Americas Retailer of the Year. Partnering with Motorsports in Action, they will field a two-car team in the 2025 championship. Fans can catch all the McLaren Trophy races live-streamed on the McLaren Automotive YouTube channel, with a regular viewership exceeding 250,000.
“Having established McLaren Trophy Europe as a competitive and social environment for Bronze and Silver drivers, we are delighted to confirm our 2025 calendar as we introduce the new McLaren Trophy America championship. We will be visiting many of the continent’s best circuits, and I’m thrilled that we have rounds at Indianapolis and the Circuit of the Americas in our inaugural season,” said Mick McDonagh, Director of MSO and Motorsport, McLaren Automotive.
