Optimum Motorsport drivers Jack Brown and Zac Meakin led the charge, celebrating their remarkable victory from pole position in the final round of a gripping season. The event underscored McLaren’s dominance, with the Artura securing a commendable 1-3 finish alongside RaceLab’s entry, rounding off a stellar weekend for McLaren customer racing teams across both GT3 and GT4 categories.
A Weekend to Remember
The British GT Championship weekend unfolded dramatically, showcasing the prowess of McLaren’s racing engineering. The Optimum Motorsport team exhibited exceptional performance during qualifying, securing pole position with an impressive margin of 0.8 seconds. Although the Artura initially lost the lead during an early incident, Brown and Meakin quickly regrouped, reclaiming their position and extending their advantage over the rest of the GT4 field. Their hard-fought victory saw them cross the finish line nearly a lap ahead of their competitors, ensuring a memorable championship win.
The podium celebrations were enhanced by the RaceLab Artura GT4 pairing of Sai Sanjay and Callum Davies, who secured a respectable third place, further affirming McLaren’s dominance in the GT4 category.
GT3 Class Triumphs
Not to be overshadowed, the GT3 class also delivered thrilling action, with Team RJN’s FIA World Endurance Championship McLaren GT3 EVO driven by Josh Caygill and Alex Buncombe taking the win from pole position. Their performance mirrored that of their GT4 counterparts, showcasing the competitive spirit that defines McLaren’s racing ethos. Meanwhile, the Garage 59 McLaren GT3 EVO, driven by Marcus Clutton and Morgan Tillbrook, notched a solid third-place finish after leading the GT3 class during the race.
