A New Era for Kia in Europe
The launch of the Kia EV4 marks a milestone in the brand’s global electrification journey: the company’s first all-electric C-segment hatchback produced in Europe. Built at Kia AutoLand Slovakia in Žilina, the EV4 sets a high standard for design, engineering and sustainability. By manufacturing in the heart of Europe, Kia strengthens its position in one of the world’s most competitive EV markets and ensures that cutting-edge electric mobility is readily accessible to European drivers.
Design in Perfect Tension: ‘Opposites United’
The EV4 embodies Kia’s acclaimed ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, bringing contrasting qualities into a strikingly cohesive form. Two body styles express the concept differently.
The hatchback projects athleticism with sloping rear glass, an assertive EV Tiger Face grille and wide-set Star Map taillights that create a futuristic signature. Vertical headlamps and clean body surfacing enhance its confident stance. By contrast, the Fastback version, produced at Kia’s Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in Korea, adopts a more refined, long-tail silhouette. With its minimalist rear treatment and ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.23Cd, the Fastback blends elegance with aerodynamic efficiency.
A Cabin that Marries Comfort and Technology
Inside, the EV4 feels both futuristic and welcoming. A free-floating centre interface and a choice of asymmetric two- and three-spoke steering wheels set the tone for a high-tech environment. Kia balances digital touchscreens with physical controls enhanced by haptic feedback, while customisable ambient lighting lets occupants tailor the atmosphere. An optimised seating layout provides generous space and flexibility, with up to 435 litres of luggage room in the hatchback and 490 litres in the Fastback.
Performance with European Precision
Engineered on Kia’s dedicated Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV4 delivers class-leading range and refinement. Customers can choose between an 81.4 kWh long-range battery offering up to 391 miles (WLTP) or a 58.3 kWh standard pack good for swift 10-to-80 per cent charging in as little as 29 minutes. Both feed a 150 kW front-mounted motor, enabling 0–62 mph in as little as 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 105 mph.
Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre engineers in Rüsselsheim tuned the EV4 specifically for European roads. The result is stable, confidence-inspiring handling with precise cornering and balanced weight distribution. A MacPherson strut front suspension, multi-link rear set-up and frequency-responsive dampers reduce noise, vibration and harshness while ensuring a composed ride at speed.

Built to Endure
At the heart of the EV4 lies Kia’s fourth-generation battery system, designed for durability and efficiency under extreme conditions. Rigorous testing included a 110,000-kilometre accelerated public-road simulation and a punishing 10,000-kilometre Nürburgring campaign at up to 95 per cent of maximum output. Even after repeated hyper-charging sessions, the battery retained 95 per cent of its original health—proof of its long-term reliability and efficiency.
Safety without Compromise
Driver confidence and passenger protection sit at the core of the EV4’s engineering. A reinforced structure incorporates multi-load paths around the battery and a roof capable of withstanding more than five times the vehicle’s weight. Advanced driver assistance systems—Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist among them—are complemented by Highway Driving Assist, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control and Remote Smart Parking Assist, easing motorway travel and city manoeuvres alike.
Seamless Digital Experience
The EV4’s digital ecosystem extends well beyond the cockpit. The latest Kia App integrates route planning, charging management and vehicle control, now enhanced with a generative AI assistant and in-car streaming from Netflix, Disney+ and YouTube. Drivers can monitor charging sessions, set target charge levels and locate one of over a million public charging points across Europe. Over-the-air updates ensure that the EV4’s infotainment and navigation remain state-of-the-art, while the factory-installed online navigation—another Kia first—delivers real-time data, including Google Places information.
Digital Key 2 technology allows owners to unlock and start the car with a compatible smartphone or smartwatch, and to share access securely with friends or family.
The Road Ahead
With its bold design, advanced electric architecture and European-tuned dynamics, the Kia EV4 signals a new chapter for the brand. It blends performance, efficiency and connectivity with a commitment to safety and longevity—qualities that make it not just Kia’s first Europe-built EV, but a compelling benchmark for the segment. For drivers seeking an electric hatchback that is as stylish as it is capable, the EV4 stands ready to redefine expectations.
