April 2026 delivered a difficult trading environment for South Africa’s automotive industry, with rising fuel prices, economic uncertainty and a calendar packed with public holidays placing additional pressure on vehicle sales. Yet amid these headwinds, Jetour South Africa recorded a major milestone as more than 1 000 units of the Jetour T2 were sold during the month, marking the model’s strongest monthly performance since its local launch.
The achievement sees the Jetour T2 climb into eighth place in South Africa’s passenger vehicle segment, while the Jetour brand itself has now entered the national top eight rankings. For a newcomer brand that officially launched the T2 locally only in October last year, the growth trajectory has been strikingly rapid.
April’s figures represent a substantial increase over March 2026, when 646 units of the Jetour T2 were sold. Cumulative sales of the SUV have now surpassed 4 000 units in South Africa, underlining the growing appetite among local buyers for feature-rich SUVs that blend lifestyle appeal with value for money.
A key part of the T2’s success has been its combination of premium styling, technology and practicality. Its bold, box-shaped design taps directly into the growing popularity of rugged-looking SUVs among South African consumers, while the ownership package and accessible parts network have further strengthened buyer confidence.
According to Jetour South Africa Vice President Nic Campbell, the model’s local success has exceeded even the company’s own expectations.
“We always knew the Jetour T2 would be a strong seller, given the international success of the model across multiple regions. Its value proposition, design, technology and overall appeal positioned it well from the start, but these sales have truly exceeded our expectations,” said Campbell.
The Jetour T2 range currently starts at R569 900 for the Aspire derivative, rising to R639 900 for the Xplora and R679 900 for the flagship Odyssey. The recently introduced T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid model tops the range at R779 900.
Under the bonnet, the Aspire uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 125kW and 270Nm, driving the front wheels. Buyers looking for additional performance and off-road capability can opt for the 4WD Xplora and Odyssey derivatives, both powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering 180kW and 375Nm.
The Odyssey further distinguishes itself with larger dimensions and added cabin space, positioning it as the most comfort-oriented offering in the lineup. Across the range, all models feature a 70-litre fuel tank and are available in Onyx Black, Glacier White, Aqua Green and Lunar Silver.
Jetour has also packed the T2 with an extensive list of standard features, including 540-degree panoramic cameras, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, LED lighting, heated electric mirrors, roof racks, privacy glass and illuminated door sills. The result is an SUV that aims to balance adventure-focused styling with everyday usability and modern convenience.
The growing momentum behind the T2 also aligns with Jetour’s broader expansion plans in South Africa. Building on the popularity of its T-Series lineup, which includes the smaller T1 SUV, the brand recently introduced the i-DM plug-in hybrid range locally.
Designed to reduce running costs while retaining the practicality and capability expected from the T-Series, the i-DM models offer the flexibility of electric driving for daily commuting alongside the extended range of hybrid power. With fuel prices continuing to fluctuate, the improved efficiency of plug-in hybrid technology is likely to resonate strongly with cost-conscious South African motorists.
