South Africa’s new vehicle market continued its impressive upward trajectory in May, recording its 20th consecutive month of year-on-year growth. Against this backdrop, Jetour celebrated another landmark month, achieving a record 2,020 vehicle sales and securing approximately 5.5% of all new passenger vehicle sales in the country.
The achievement comes shortly after the brand reached another historic milestone, with the Jetour T2 becoming the first Chinese automotive manufacturer’s vehicle to win the prestigious South African Car of the Year title. The award represents a significant moment not only for Jetour but also for the broader Chinese automotive sector, which continues to gain momentum among South African consumers.
Jetour retained its position as the eighth-best-selling automotive brand in South Africa for the second consecutive month. The accomplishment is particularly noteworthy considering the brand only entered the local market in September 2024. Less than a year later, Jetour had already secured a place among the country’s top 15 automotive brands, demonstrating the rapid pace of its growth and market acceptance.
“What a month May has been for the brand, marked by a series of proud accolades,” said Nic Campbell, Vice President of Jetour South Africa. “The pace of growth we’ve experienced reflects increasing consumer confidence in our brand, our products and our dealer network.”
A key contributor to Jetour’s expansion has been its investment in a growing dealer and support network. From an initial footprint of 40 dealerships just 18 months ago, the brand now operates more than 55 dealerships across South Africa. This expansion has been accompanied by a strong focus on delivering a comprehensive ownership experience through dedicated after-sales support and a centrally managed parts and service infrastructure.
At the heart of this strategy is Jetour’s digital-first parts warehouse in Midrand. The facility has been designed to support efficient nationwide distribution, using integrated digital systems to streamline inventory management and order processing. This approach enables dealerships to access parts more quickly, helping reduce vehicle downtime and improve service delivery for customers across the country.
Jetour’s local product range currently spans six models across both conventional internal combustion and plug-in hybrid vehicle segments. The range begins with the Jetour Dashing, a technology-focused five-seater SUV aimed at urban drivers and priced from R439,900. Alongside it is the X70 Plus, a spacious seven-seater family SUV that offers practicality, comfort and versatility, starting from R454,900.
For buyers seeking greater off-road capability, the T-Series range offers a more adventure-oriented proposition. The Jetour T1 is positioned as a capable and rugged SUV with pricing from R514,900, while the award-winning Jetour T2 builds on that formula with a more premium package and enhanced adventure-focused features, starting from R569,900. Both models are available in multiple derivatives to cater to varying customer requirements.
The brand has also expanded its presence in South Africa’s growing new-energy vehicle market with the introduction of the T1 i-DM and T2 i-DM plug-in hybrid models. These vehicles combine the capability and performance associated with the T-Series range with improved efficiency and the ability to travel on electric power. The T1 i-DM starts from R689,900, while the T2 i-DM is priced from approximately R779,900.
Supporting the product offering is a comprehensive after-sales package designed to provide long-term value and ownership peace of mind. The package covers major vehicle components, routine maintenance requirements and extended engine protection, helping customers manage ownership costs while ensuring ongoing support throughout the vehicle’s lifespan.
“Jetour is here to stay, and our long-term focus remains on staying relevant by delivering vehicles and after-sales support that meet the needs and expectations of local consumers,” Campbell said.
With record sales, industry recognition and a rapidly expanding dealer network, Jetour’s latest achievements highlight the growing influence of the brand in South Africa’s competitive automotive market. As consumer confidence continues to strengthen and demand for SUVs remains robust, the company appears well positioned to build on its momentum in the months ahead.
