Since its South African debut six months ago, the Jetour T Series has made an impressive mark, with over 4,587 units sold across its range. To give owners a hands-on experience of its capabilities, the Jetour Owner’s Club recently hosted an Adventure Day at De Wildt Nature Park and Resort near Hartbeespoort in Gauteng. The spotlight was on the top-spec T2 Odyssey, where a select group of owners were guided by seasoned off-road expert André de Villiers.
De Villiers, a mechanical engineer with decades of experience navigating challenging terrain, led participants through practical exercises designed to build confidence and understanding of their vehicles. “The day was really about giving customers a better understanding of their vehicles in a practical, hands-on environment. We covered everything from safety and responsible driving to preserving the natural environment, as well as how to approach and manage different obstacles,” he explained. Participants explored the limits and strengths of the T2 Odyssey, learning how its systems and features work in real-world off-road conditions.
With his extensive background, including hosting kykNET’s Safari 4x4 Roetes for 14 seasons, De Villiers brought a wealth of knowledge to the day. Attendees tackled gravel roads, mud, steep inclines, and technical sections, practicing techniques like maintaining momentum and safely navigating obstacles. The training emphasized responsible off-road driving while highlighting the vehicle’s comfort and luxury.
Shane and Shernelle from Roseacres, Johannesburg, praised the event for its practical approach. Shane highlighted the hands-on lessons: “What really stood out was their patience and the clear, simple tips they shared while we were actually behind the wheel, helping us build confidence step by step. For me, the biggest takeaway was a simple but powerful lesson: keep the momentum.” Shernelle added that they learned how to drive in a convoy and how to make full use of the vehicle’s advanced settings, valuable for future adventures in places like Namibia or Botswana.
Other attendees, like Jared from Hartbeespoort, described the day as well organised and enriching. “They put the event together perfectly, from the catering to the informative talks about the vehicle and off-roading. It was truly an enriching experience for us as Jetour drivers. Now that we understand how the vehicle performs and its features, we see it can do so much more than most realise.”
The Jetour T2 Odyssey is designed for adventurous driving without compromising on luxury. Its 4WD system, 7-speed DCT transmission, and 180kW of power allow confident handling across diverse terrain.
