Johannesburg, South Africa – Chery is preparing to take centre stage at Auto China 2026 with a showcase that pushes far beyond conventional automotive boundaries. At the heart of its presentation is the all-new Q, a compact electric model designed to bring intelligent mobility, practical space, and advanced digital systems into a more accessible segment of the market.
The Q, also known in some international markets as the QQ, has been reimagined as a premium compact electric vehicle built on a dedicated EV platform. Its exterior design balances clean, modern styling with a focus on urban usability, while the interior prioritises space efficiency in a way that challenges expectations for a vehicle of its size. The result is a compact EV that feels unexpectedly roomy, adaptable, and engineered for everyday life in fast-moving cities.
Inside the cabin, Chery is placing strong emphasis on user experience, powered by AI-driven systems that enhance interaction between driver and vehicle. These technologies are designed to simplify daily operation, improve responsiveness, and create a more intuitive digital environment on the move. From navigation to infotainment and vehicle settings, the system aims to anticipate user needs rather than simply react to inputs.
Safety remains a central pillar of the Q’s design philosophy. A 540-degree panoramic camera system provides enhanced situational awareness, while a suite of advanced driver assistance technologies supports safer decision-making in complex driving conditions. Together, these systems aim to deliver confidence whether navigating tight urban streets or longer highway journeys.
For South Africa, the Q represents a significant step in Chery’s growing electrification strategy. Set to arrive locally later this year, it is positioned as an accessible entry point into electric mobility, broadening the brand’s new energy vehicle offering. It joins an expanding lineup that already includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid models under Chery’s Super Hybrid (CSH) technology, featured across vehicles such as the Tiggo Cross CSH Hybrid, as well as the Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 CSH plug-in hybrids.
Chery’s global momentum continues to strengthen, with quarterly sales exceeding 600,000 units and an international presence that is rapidly expanding. This growth is now being channelled into what the company describes as a phase of “deep cultivation,” where innovation, quality, and intelligent ecosystems take priority over pure scale.
A major expression of this direction is Chery’s collaboration with AiMOGA Robotics, a division positioned as the company’s “third growth curve.” AiMOGA has already deployed more than 220 humanoid robots across over 30 countries, operating in more than 100 real-world scenarios including public service, traffic guidance, safety patrols, and customer engagement.
At Auto China 2026, Chery and AiMOGA will jointly unveil a fully integrated “Automobile + Robot” ecosystem, demonstrating how intelligent vehicles and robotics can work together in shared environments. This vision extends beyond vehicles alone, hinting at future retail spaces, mobility hubs, and service environments where machines interact seamlessly to support human needs.
The Q ultimately stands as more than just a compact electric vehicle. It reflects Chery’s broader ambition to merge mobility, artificial intelligence, and robotics into a connected ecosystem that reshapes how people experience transport and technology in everyday life.
