CHERY is set to take centre stage at Auto China 2026 with a landmark celebration of its Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology, marking five distinct generations of development in what has become one of the brand’s most defining engineering achievements. The showcase, which coincides with the CHERY International Business Summit in Beijing, will highlight not only the evolution of its hybrid systems but also the accelerating momentum of its global expansion strategy.
At the heart of the announcement is the fifth-generation CSH system, the result of nearly three decades of in-house powertrain development. Built on a foundation that dates back to CHERY’s early engine programmes in the late 1990s, the system reflects a long-term commitment to core technology ownership, spanning combustion engineering, hybrid architecture and intelligent control systems. This integrated approach has allowed the brand to refine efficiency and performance across multiple generations rather than relying on incremental external adaptation.
The latest CSH system pairs a dedicated 1.5GDI hybrid engine with a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent and an advanced Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) achieving up to 98.5 percent efficiency. Designed for full-scenario usability, it has undergone extensive validation in some of the world’s most demanding environments, including extreme desert heat reaching 57°C, sub-zero Siberian conditions and diverse European road networks. This testing regime underscores CHERY’s focus on real-world reliability rather than laboratory-bound performance claims.
This philosophy of “real-world engineering” will underpin CHERY’s presence at Auto China 2026, where the company will also unveil multiple new models and technology platforms aimed at global family mobility. These products are expected to span urban commuting, long-distance travel and multi-environment usability, reinforcing the brand’s positioning as a practical, technology-led mobility provider rather than a niche electrification player.
Beyond product innovation, CHERY is using the Beijing event to further articulate its evolving global identity. The brand continues to anchor its strategy in long-term investment, independent research and user-centric design, positioning technology as a tool to reduce total cost of ownership while enhancing everyday usability and trust. This approach reflects a broader shift in the company’s global value proposition, from rapid expansion to sustained ecosystem development.
That strategy is already visible in Europe, where CHERY has recently established its first overseas regional operations centre in Barcelona, alongside a new Spain-based R&D institute. The hub will coordinate supply chain operations, compliance, finance and public affairs while supporting the development of vehicles tailored specifically to European regulatory standards and customer expectations. It represents a significant step in CHERY’s localisation model, aligning with its principle of “In somewhere, for somewhere, be somewhere.”
The company now operates in 18 European markets and serves more than 100,000 customers across the region, with continued growth in both the UK and EU. The Barcelona expansion is designed to strengthen this trajectory by embedding engineering and operational capabilities closer to end users, improving responsiveness and product relevance.
CHERY has also expanded its international footprint through strategic partnerships, including a new collaboration with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) in Paris, organisers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The partnership signals the brand’s deeper engagement with global automotive culture and performance-oriented innovation, reinforcing its ambition to be recognised on an international stage not only for efficiency, but also for engineering credibility.
Speaking on the significance of the milestone for the UK market, Farrell Hsu, Country Director, CHERY UK, said the achievement represents more than a technical evolution. “Reaching five generations of hybrid technology is not just a technical achievement, it’s a sign of how seriously CHERY takes long-term engineering and real-world performance. For UK customers, that matters. These systems have been proven in some of the world’s most extreme climates, from desert heat to sub-zero cold, which reassuringly means they’re more than prepared for everything the British weather can throw at them.”
He added that this durability underpins CHERY’s confidence as it scales its UK presence. “As we continue to grow in the UK, this level of durability and efficiency supports our commitment to bringing advanced hybrid technology to more drivers, with solutions that are not only accessible but genuinely usable every day.”
Auto China 2026 and the CHERY International Business Summit will therefore serve as more than a product showcase. They represent a convergence point for technology, global strategy and brand evolution. Alongside new hybrid systems and model debuts, CHERY will also present safety demonstrations, long-distance testing experiences and ecosystem displays, offering a comprehensive view of its capabilities across the mobility landscape.
For international markets, and particularly for UK consumers, the message from CHERY is increasingly consistent. Its growth is being driven not simply by scale, but by a sustained commitment to engineering depth, localisation and long-term value creation.
