Zhengzhou, China – BYD has officially unveiled its groundbreaking All-Terrain Circuit in Zhengzhou, one of the first facilities in China purpose-built for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). More than a conventional racetrack, this innovative venue embodies BYD’s “Technology for All” ethos — blending high-adrenaline driving with cutting-edge technology demonstrations to foster a vibrant NEV culture.
The Zhengzhou All-Terrain Circuit redefines the idea of a driver experience centre. Far from the limitations of single-purpose tracks, the facility delivers a multi-dimensional adventure that allows guests to transition seamlessly from water crossings to sand dunes, from icy simulations to precision race laps — all in one destination.
Eight Zones of Immersive Driving
The circuit offers eight distinct experience areas: Indoor Sand Dune, Low-Friction Ring, Kick Plate, Wading Pool, Dynamic Paddock, Race Track, Off-Road Park, and a Camping Area for extended stays.
The star attraction is the Indoor Sand Dune, now officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s highest and largest dune-climbing facility for car testing. Towering with a 29.6-metre vertical drop and 28-degree slope, the dune is constructed from 6,200 tons of sand precisely matched to the granular makeup of the Alxa Desert — delivering an authentic dune-bashing experience for all.
The 70-metre water crossing pool, designed exclusively for the flagship YANGWANG U8, is equally impressive. Through underwater viewing windows, spectators can watch the vehicle effortlessly manoeuvre forward, reverse, or turn while fully submerged, showcasing the e4 platform’s unprecedented stability and safety in extreme scenarios.
Where Safety and Thrill Converge
While designed for excitement, the Zhengzhou circuit doubles as a proving ground for BYD’s advanced safety systems. The Kick Plate simulates sudden loss of control — mimicking icy road conditions via a wet, polished cement surface combined with movable suction plates — allowing drivers to safely learn recovery techniques.
China’s first Low Friction Circle, a 44-metre-diameter ring paved with 30,000 basalt bricks under a constant 3 mm layer of water, creates the perfect conditions for controlled drifting. Combined with BYD’s millisecond-level electronic control and intelligent body systems, it brings the thrill of motorsport precision to any driver.

From Track Days to Off-Road Adventures
The 1,758-metre Race Track includes nine curves and a 550-metre straight, offering both precision cornering and exhilarating acceleration runs. In the Dynamic Paddock, spread over 15,300 square metres, visitors can experience scenarios from moose avoidance manoeuvres to automated parking demonstrations — each designed to showcase BYD’s intelligent driving technologies.
For off-road enthusiasts, the Off-Road Park spans 27 scenarios of varying difficulty, from beginner-friendly trails navigable by urban SUVs to advanced terrain challenges that test the limits of BYD’s intelligent all-wheel drive.
Expanding the Vision Nationwide
BYD’s vision extends beyond Zhengzhou. Two additional circuits — one in Hefei and another in Shaoxing — are set to follow. The Shaoxing facility, in particular, promises a spectacular 2,000-acre off-road zone at an altitude of 500 metres.
In partnership with the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF), BYD has launched the “New Track Scheme” — a nationwide initiative aimed at engaging one million users and nurturing 100 professional NEV racers.
“BYD Circuits will accelerate the professionalisation of China’s NEV racing events and reshape China’s automotive culture,”
— Guojun Zhan, President of CAMF
A New Chapter for NEV Culture
The BYD All-Terrain Circuit represents far more than a collection of driving zones. It’s an immersive showcase of innovation, capability, and accessibility — a place where drivers can experience extreme scenarios once reserved for professionals, and where NEV technology steps out from the showroom to prove itself in the real world.
With Zhengzhou as the starting point, BYD is not only opening new tracks but also paving the way for a new chapter in China’s automotive culture — one in which electrification, performance, and community thrive together.
