BYD has announced a new partnership with Electric Vehicles UK (EVUK), aligning with the organisation’s mission to provide clear, trustworthy and easily accessible information about electric vehicles to consumers, the media and policymakers.
The collaboration brings together one of the UK’s leading New Energy Vehicle manufacturers and a fast-growing industry-to-consumer organisation dedicated to accelerating the country’s transition to fully electric mobility. At its core, the partnership aims to address persistent misinformation around electric vehicles while supporting a more informed national conversation about EV ownership.
Founded in 2024, Electric Vehicles UK was established to make electric mobility easier to understand and more approachable for car buyers. The organisation focuses on challenging inaccurate narratives around EVs and campaigning to remove the practical and perceptual barriers that can prevent drivers from making the switch. By engaging directly with consumers, policymakers and the media, EVUK seeks to build confidence in electric vehicles through facts, transparency and education.
As the leading New Energy Vehicle manufacturer in the UK, BYD sees the partnership as a natural extension of its broader commitment to sustainable mobility. By supporting EVUK’s fact-based approach, BYD aims to help ensure that discussions around electric vehicles are grounded in real-world experience, credible data and practical insight rather than speculation or misunderstanding.
Through the partnership, BYD will gain access to a wide range of consumer-facing events, creating opportunities for direct engagement with current and prospective EV owners. At the same time, the collaboration enables closer co-ordination between BYD and EVUK when participating in public, industry and press activities, strengthening the clarity and consistency of messaging around electric vehicle adoption.
Commenting on the announcement, Bono Ge, Country Manager of BYD UK, highlighted the shared objectives behind the partnership. “We’re delighted to be joining EVUK to fully support its mission to increase consumer awareness of electric vehicles,” he said. “Together we aim to explain the various benefits of owning an electric car, from a smoother, quieter drive and responsive performance to reduced running costs, by providing accurate information to the public. In doing this, we’ll move closer to our ultimate goals of achieving global climate targets and improving air quality.”
For EVUK, the partnership represents a meaningful endorsement of its role as an independent, trusted voice in the EV landscape. Tanya Sinclair, CEO of Electric Vehicles UK, welcomed BYD’s involvement, noting the importance of collaboration between manufacturers and advocacy organisations in driving meaningful change.
“I am delighted to welcome BYD as a partner of EVUK,” Sinclair said. “They are innovators in EV technology and are among the global manufacturers moving away from fossil-fuelled vehicles and accelerating the UK’s transition to an all-electric future. BYD’s partnership with EVUK strengthens our ability to provide clear information and insight that helps build confidence and demand for all electric vehicles in the UK.”
As the UK continues its journey towards a fully electric future, partnerships such as this underline the growing recognition that education and trust are as critical as technology itself. By combining BYD’s manufacturing expertise with EVUK’s consumer-focused advocacy, the collaboration aims to help demystify electric vehicles and support a smoother, more confident transition for drivers across the country.
