BYD UK has closed out 2025 in spectacular fashion, recording a total of 51,422 vehicle registrations—a remarkable leap from its 2024 market share of 0.45% to 2.55% for the full year. December alone saw 7,683 registrations, propelling BYD to become the sixth biggest-selling brand in the UK for the month.
This milestone reinforces BYD’s position as the nation’s leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, commanding a 12.01% share of battery electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in December.
Among the standout performers, the SEAL U DM-i SUV was both BYD’s top-selling model and the most popular plug-in hybrid in the UK for 2025. Meanwhile, the Dolphin Surf city car led the charge in BYD’s BEV lineup, ranking as the fourth best-selling BEV nationwide in December.
Commenting on the success, Bono Ge, Country Manager of BYD UK, said:
“Ending 2025 with 51,422 registrations is an unbelievable achievement for BYD UK, and I would like to sincerely thank our customers for their enthusiasm for the brand and their confidence in our advanced EV and DM-i technologies. This result is further proof that our wide range of award-winning New Energy Vehicles—both Battery Electric Vehicles and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles—are proving to be hugely desirable with both private and fleet buyers.”
Looking ahead, BYD is set to expand its DM-i plug-in hybrid range in 2026, with the new SEALION 5 DM-i and ATTO 2 DM-i joining the lineup, alongside the recently introduced SEAL 6 DM-i Saloon and Touring. The BEV range is also set for growth, positioning BYD UK for an even stronger performance in the year ahead.
With such momentum, BYD is clearly not just participating in the UK NEV market—it’s shaping its future.
