On March 28, 2024, in Mladá Boleslav, Škoda Auto announced the inauguration of a new regional office in Prague for the Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions India (VWITS). This establishment is set to bolster the synergy between Škoda Auto and the vast talent pool of IT specialists from VWITS’s significant IT center in India. This move is part of Škoda Auto’s strategic push towards enhancing its digital capabilities, pivotal to the company’s Škoda Strategy 2030, named “Next Level.”
Holger Peters, a key executive at Škoda Auto overseeing Finance, IT, and Legal Affairs, emphasized the critical role of digitalization and software development in the automotive sector’s evolution. He highlighted that the new IT center, coupled with the expertise of VWITS professionals, aims to attract top talent from the Czech Republic and its vicinity to refine Škoda Auto’s digital services. Such improvements are deemed essential for elevating the customer experience and optimizing internal operations. Peters expressed his anticipation for the productive outcomes of this collaboration.
Hauke Stars, representing the Volkswagen Group’s IT leadership, remarked on the partnership between Škoda Auto and VWITS as a significant step in fostering global collaboration within the Volkswagen Group. He pointed out the advantages of this cooperation in nurturing in-group IT competencies, minimizing reliance on external entities for critical operations, and achieving cost savings in IT functions.

The establishment of the new IT hub marks a significant phase in linking Czech and Indian expertise, facilitating a vibrant exchange of knowledge and cultural integration between the two regions. VWITS, a key player in the Volkswagen Group’s IT landscape, boasts a large workforce in India, underscoring the country’s strategic importance to Škoda Auto’s global outreach efforts.
Škoda Auto has been at the forefront of adopting cutting-edge IT solutions, including the expansion of the Czech Republic’s largest corporate data center, and the integration of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and cloud services in its operations. The strategic alliance with VWITS is expected to further enrich these initiatives.
The new Prague-based VWITS office is launching with 30 specialist positions, aimed at fostering collaboration with the Indian team to support Škoda Auto’s IT needs, especially in areas such as logistics, production, and sales. This initiative will not only amplify Škoda Auto’s IT prowess but also encourage a deeper international talent exchange.
Situated in Vysočany, Prague, the IT hub is strategically placed near Škoda Auto’s IT departments that specialize in developing state-of-the-art technological solutions. The location also houses a SAP competence center for Volkswagen Group entities and the innovative educational institution 42 Prague, which trains aspiring software developers.
