THE ROAD TO WORLD CAR 2023 and the WORLD CAR FINALS POWERED BY BREMBO concluded today with the live announcement of the winners in six award categories at the New York International Auto Show.
The 2023 World Performance Car is the KIA EV6 GT.
A jury of 100 distinguished international automotive journalists from 32 countries selected the winners by secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their on-going professional work. The vote results were tabulated by KPMG.
President and CEO of Kia Ho Sung Song said: “To be recognized in this way by the World Car Awards’ judges is a tremendous honor. As Kia transitions to become a world-leading sustainable solutions provider, we are leaving no stone unturned to create vehicles which deliver exceptional practicality while also inspiring customers through their ingenuity, technology, and design. This latest prestigious accolade provides further confirmation of the success of our strategy.”
The World Performance Car trophy was created by legendary automotive designer IAN CALLUM’s design and engineering consultancy CALLUM. “The World Car Awards are held in the highest regard by the industry and as a recipient, I appreciate how much it means to a design team to have it proudly on display in the studio,” says Ian Callum. “Reimagining both the design and manufacture is a huge privilege and just the opportunity the team at CALLUM relish.”
All seven of the new CALLUM designed trophies were produced by REPLIQUE using the first fully encrypted 3D printing platform that offers OEMs a secure and sustainable means of providing parts on demand, anytime, anywhere. “We are proud to be chosen as the manufacturer of this year’s World Car Awards, and by that take part in such an important event within the automotive industry,” says Henrike Wonneberger, co-founder of Replique.
The KIA EV6 GT was chosen from an initial entry list of eight (8) vehicles from all over the world then a short list of three finalists as announced on March 7th. The 2023 Top Three in the World finalists are the Kia EV6 GT, the Nissan Z and the Toyota GR Corolla.
