A rare slice of football history and motorcycling craftsmanship is set to ignite bidding tables this July, as a 1990 Harley-Davidson once owned by football icon Kevin Keegan goes under the hammer with H&H Classics.
Offered at no reserve, the striking Harley-Davidson Sportster is far more than a collector’s machine. Commissioned by Keegan himself and purchased from a Harley-Davidson dealership in Newcastle, it carries a bespoke livery inspired by his storied connection with Newcastle United F.C.. The design stands as a rolling tribute to a figure who helped shape the club’s modern identity both on the pitch and from the dugout.
The motorcycle will be auctioned at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull on Wednesday 22 July, with viewing available the day prior and on the morning of the sale. Enthusiasts will be able to bid in person, online, by telephone, or through commission, as anticipation builds around what is expected to be one of the most emotionally resonant lots of the season.
Beyond its visual appeal, the bike carries a deeply personal history. It was displayed publicly at the Newcastle Breweries Museum in its early years before being installed on a purpose-built plinth within Keegan’s home office, a quiet emblem of a career that transcended club loyalties and generations of supporters.
H&H Classics has confirmed that, given Keegan’s recent stage four cancer diagnosis, a percentage of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to Cancer Research UK, adding a layer of humanitarian significance to an already historic auction.

His remarks reflect the rarity of such an item entering the open market, particularly one tied so closely to a figure of Keegan’s stature.
Keegan’s legacy stretches far beyond Newcastle. He famously won the Ballon d’Or twice, represented England at the highest level, and enjoyed successful spells with Liverpool F.C. and Hamburger SV.
