Ford Motor Company has expanded its Everest line-up for 2026, introducing a more accessible new Active derivative while strengthening the range with upgraded V6-powered Sport, Wildtrak and Platinum models.
Announced by Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa in Pretoria on 14 May 2026, the updated range aims to offer buyers a broader spread of capability, luxury and pricing in one of South Africa’s most competitive SUV segments.
The biggest change comes in the form of the new Everest Active, which replaces the outgoing XLT as the entry point to the line-up. Positioned as a more affordable option, the Active is powered by the latest version of Ford’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, producing 125kW and 405Nm. Buyers can choose between a 4x2 or part-time 4x4 drivetrain, both paired with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission that now benefits from revised calibration for smoother and more responsive shifting.
Despite sitting at the base of the range, the Everest Active arrives generously equipped. Ford has fitted advanced driver assistance technologies such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop/Go and Lane Centring, features previously unavailable on lower-tier Everest derivatives. Safety specifications also include dual front, side and curtain airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and a Thatcham-grade security system.
The Active retains the Everest’s family-focused practicality with a spacious seven-seat cabin, cloth upholstery, power-adjustable driver’s seat and Ford’s latest SYNC 4 infotainment system displayed through a 12-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and built-in connected vehicle functions are all included as standard.
Moving up the range, the Everest Sport receives one of the most significant upgrades in the revised line-up. It now exclusively adopts Ford’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, delivering 184kW and 600Nm through an electronically controlled permanent four-wheel drive system. Designed to blend everyday refinement with serious towing and off-road capability, the system continuously manages torque distribution between the front and rear axles while also offering selectable 2H, 4H and 4L modes.
The Sport maintains its blacked-out styling package and 20-inch alloy wheels, but now gains additional features including a tyre pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera, Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage and Ford’s Zone Lighting system. Interior upgrades include leather upholstery, a powered tailgate, additional power seat adjustment and a 400W inverter.
The adventurous Everest Wildtrak continues as the more rugged and lifestyle-focused derivative in the range. It introduces a distinctive new Ignite Orange paint option, alongside revised exterior styling that includes a black front bumper and raised roof racks. Matrix LED headlamps, previously reserved for the flagship Platinum, now also feature on the Wildtrak.
Inside, the Wildtrak leans further into premium territory with leather-trimmed seats, ambient lighting, a black roof lining and a dual-panel powered moonroof. Ford has also added power-folding third-row seats to improve convenience and usability.
At the top of the range, the Everest Platinum remains the luxury flagship. While largely unchanged, it now receives painted wheel arch mouldings and a new Acacia Green exterior colour option. The Platinum continues to offer premium features such as 21-inch alloy wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 12-speaker B&O sound system and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster.
Ford also confirmed that the all-new Everest Tremor will join the line-up later this year. Positioned as the most off-road-focused derivative yet, the Tremor is expected to push the Everest’s all-terrain capability even further.
Pricing for the updated 2026 Everest range starts at R825,000 for the Active 4x2 and climbs to R1,340,000 for the range-topping Platinum. All models will arrive at Ford dealerships across South Africa in the coming weeks.
