Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has confirmed that the Everest line-up will grow in Q4 2026 with the introduction of the Everest Tremor, a purpose-built derivative that leans further into rugged terrain performance while preserving the comfort and refinement that have made the SUV a firm favourite among South African families and adventurers alike.
Positioned as a more capable, adventure-focused variant within the Everest range, the Tremor arrives in response to growing customer demand for SUVs that can confidently bridge the gap between daily usability and serious off-road exploration. It builds on the momentum of Ford’s Tremor philosophy already seen in the Ranger line-up, translating that ethos into a larger, more versatile family SUV format.
Under the bonnet, the Everest Tremor is powered exclusively by Ford’s proven 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, delivering 184 kW of power and 600 Nm of torque. This muscular powertrain provides the effortless performance expected of a premium seven-seater SUV, whether navigating highway stretches, towing heavy loads, or crawling through challenging terrain. With a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, the Tremor reinforces its dual identity as both a family tourer and a serious workhorse.
Where the Everest Tremor truly distinguishes itself is in its enhanced off-road hardware and capability upgrades. A specially developed suspension system, featuring Bilstein® Position-Sensitive Dampers and revised springs, has been engineered to improve control and durability in demanding environments. This is complemented by General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, designed to deliver reliable grip across gravel, sand, mud and rocky surfaces while still maintaining composure and comfort on paved roads.
These enhancements also contribute to an additional 26 mm of ground clearance over the standard Everest, giving the Tremor greater confidence when tackling uneven landscapes. The inclusion of Rock Crawl Drive Mode further expands its capability envelope, optimising traction and throttle response for low-speed precision over loose and rocky terrain, where control is everything and momentum must be carefully managed.
Visually, the Everest Tremor signals its intent with a more assertive and functional design language. A distinctive honeycomb grille with auxiliary LED lighting sets the tone at the front, while a steel bash plate and heavy-duty side steps underline its protective, adventure-ready character. Signature Tremor badging and a unique Command Grey exterior colour further separate it from the rest of the Everest family, giving it a more purposeful and individual presence.
Inside, Ford has worked to ensure that increased capability does not come at the expense of refinement. The cabin retains the Everest’s premium feel, enhanced with Tremor-embossed leather-accented seating, ebony interior detailing and durable all-weather floor mats designed for real-world use after long days on dirt roads and remote trails. The result is a cabin that balances comfort and practicality in equal measure, supporting both everyday commuting and long-distance touring.
Technology remains a central pillar of the Everest experience, with the inclusion of Ford’s SYNC® 4 infotainment system providing intuitive connectivity and control. A comprehensive suite of driver assistance and safety features also continues to support occupants, reinforcing the Everest’s reputation as a well-rounded, technologically advanced SUV.
While pricing and final specification details will be confirmed closer to launch, the Everest Tremor’s arrival in South Africa signals a clear intent from Ford to deepen its off-road SUV offering in a market where capability, versatility and comfort are increasingly expected to coexist.
