Daimler Truck Southern Africa (DTSA) has announced a key leadership transition within its FUSO Trucks business, appointing Mpho Matseba as Head of FUSO Trucks Southern Africa, effective 1 April 2026. The appointment underscores the organisation’s focus on continuity, operational stability and sustained customer value across Southern Africa’s commercial vehicle landscape.
Matseba steps into the role following a successful period as Head of FUSO Sales, a position she held from August 2024 to March 2026. During this time, she was instrumental in strengthening commercial performance, deepening engagement with dealers and customers, and reinforcing a customer-first approach across the regional network. Her progression into the top leadership role reflects both her proven capability and the strategic importance of continuity within the FUSO business.
In her new capacity, Matseba assumes full responsibility for the FUSO Trucks division in Southern Africa, overseeing the complete value chain. This includes strategy, sales and marketing operations, customer experience, parts and after-sales support, and supply chain coordination. Her mandate is centred on driving sustainable growth while maintaining the brand’s strong reputation for reliability and support in both local and cross-border markets.
With a career spanning 21 years within Daimler Truck and its associated business units, Matseba brings extensive industry knowledge and deep market understanding. Her leadership approach has consistently focused on operational excellence, long-term partnership building and delivering measurable customer value, all of which have positioned her as a trusted figure within the organisation and the broader commercial transport sector.
The appointment comes at a time of global transformation for the FUSO brand, following the planned integration involving Daimler Truck AG and Toyota Motor Corporation, alongside Hino Motors, Ltd. and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation under the newly established ARCHION Group, effective 1 April 2026. Despite these international developments, DTSA has confirmed that there will be no changes to local operations.
FUSO Trucks will continue to operate as an integral part of Daimler Truck Southern Africa, with existing dealer networks, systems and after-sales support remaining fully in place. Customers across Southern Africa and neighbouring markets can expect uninterrupted service and continuity in support structures, reinforcing confidence during a period of global transition.
Commenting on her appointment, Matseba expressed both gratitude and commitment, noting her long-standing connection with the brand and its customers. She highlighted her intention to build on existing foundations while continuing to strengthen a customer-centric approach across all areas of the business.
Leadership at DTSA has also welcomed the appointment, emphasising its strategic importance. Maretha Gerber, President and Group CEO of Daimler Truck Southern Africa, noted Matseba’s consistent leadership track record, commercial insight and dedication to customer-first principles. She added that the appointment ensures stability for the FUSO business while supporting its long-term growth trajectory under DTSA.
DTSA’s latest leadership transition reinforces its broader commitment to dependable transport solutions, strong partnerships and operational resilience. As the industry navigates global restructuring and evolving market dynamics, the company’s focus remains firmly anchored on customer confidence and continuity across the Southern African region.
