Xtrac, a global leader in high-performance transmission systems for top-tier motorsport and automotive applications, has reached a significant milestone by obtaining the prestigious Two-Star FIA Environmental Accreditation. This achievement underscores Xtrac’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, positioning the company as a front-runner in the motorsport industry’s transition to greener practices.
Adrian Moore, Xtrac’s Chief Executive, expressed his pride in receiving this important certification. “We’re delighted to receive this certification. It’s a big step forward for us and a significant achievement for a Tier 1 motorsport supplier. It recognises our long-standing commitment to achieving net zero,” said Moore.
The FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme
The FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme is a globally recognised framework designed to help motorsport and mobility organisations measure and improve their environmental performance. Through its three-tier certification system, the programme encourages stakeholders to integrate environmental management into their operations. The achievement of a Two-Star accreditation represents a strong level of environmental commitment and performance, with the ultimate goal being the coveted Three-Star status.
Xtrac’s journey towards Two-Star accreditation involved a detailed audit conducted by FIA sustainability experts. This assessment examined a wide range of environmental management practices, including energy use, water consumption, waste management, pollution control, and carbon emissions monitoring. Additionally, areas such as training, communication, biodiversity, and transport management were also scrutinised, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s environmental impact.

A Commitment to Continuous Improvement
The process began with an initial self-assessment, where Xtrac’s environmental practices were measured against FIA’s rigorous criteria. With guidance from Enovation Consulting’s experts—Cristiana Pace, Bridget Haywood, and Adam Ellis—Xtrac identified areas for improvement, implemented key changes, and successfully passed the final audit. The result was the well-deserved Two-Star certification, which is valid for two years.
Adrian Moore emphasised the importance of this achievement, noting how it aligns with Xtrac’s broader business strategy. “By participating in the FIA programme, we further understand our environmental issues and how to develop through continuous improvement processes. It puts us in a great position to continue this work and achieve the ultimate Three-Star accreditation. Investment in achieving this type of accreditation to make us a better business goes hand-in-hand with our ongoing investment into the latest state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and training programmes for our people.”
Recognising the Team Effort
The success of this initiative was a collaborative effort, as noted by Kirsty Knight, Xtrac’s People & Culture Director. “It was a massive team effort and very worthwhile. We want to thank Cristiana, Bridget, and Adam at Enovation Consulting for their expertise in helping us achieve this milestone, and all of the hard-working and skilled staff at Xtrac who made this possible.”
Knight also highlighted how achieving FIA accreditation strengthens Xtrac’s reputation within the motorsport community. “FIA accreditation enhances our credibility with our customers and stakeholders. It paves the way for us to achieve the Three-Star accreditation and the internationally recognised ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS) certifications.”
Looking Ahead
Xtrac’s Two-Star FIA Environmental Accreditation is not just a testament to its current sustainability efforts but also a springboard for further improvements. With a clear roadmap ahead, Xtrac is well on its way to achieving the highest standards of environmental responsibility, with plans to pursue the coveted Three-Star accreditation and ISO 14001 certification in the near future.
As motorsport and automotive industries increasingly prioritise environmental impact, Xtrac’s leadership in this space sets a powerful example for others to follow.
