Women On the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) continues its legacy of impactful philanthropy, exceeding its initial 2024 pledge by raising a total of £20,500 for cancer charities. The impressive total follows a successful WOMAC party and two weeks of fundraising events known as WOMAC Weeks. With this achievement, WOMAC has further solidified its commitment to making a difference in the fight against cancer.

The beneficiaries of this year’s efforts are two primary organisations—Oesophageal Patients Association (OPA) and Cure Leukaemia—each receiving a substantial donation of £8,000. WOMAC also extended its generosity by donating £1,500 to three additional charities, bringing the total number of supported causes to five.

Supporting Life-Changing Causes
Both OPA and Cure Leukaemia were nominated by WOMAC Committee members and Patrons, having played pivotal roles in supporting loved ones affected by cancer. OPA has been at the forefront of oesophageal and gastric cancer advocacy for over three decades, providing crucial support to patients, families, and carers while raising awareness of these devastating diseases. Cure Leukaemia, established in 2003, has transformed the treatment landscape for blood cancer patients, initially focusing on the Birmingham region before expanding its reach nationally. The charity provides access to groundbreaking therapies, offering hope to those battling blood cancer across the UK.

Expanding the Impact
In addition to the donations made to OPA and Cure Leukaemia, WOMAC has also pledged £1,500 each to three other vital cancer charities:

Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation: This foundation hosts a range of educational programmes alongside fundraising and awareness initiatives aimed at fighting one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer.

Cancer United: Focused on enhancing the physical and mental well-being of cancer patients, Cancer United inspires individuals to embrace life beyond their diagnosis, helping them stay active and positive throughout their treatment journey.

Breast Cancer Haven: A sanctuary for those diagnosed with breast cancer, this charity offers practical advice, emotional support, and holistic therapies to help patients and their families navigate the challenges of cancer treatment.

Each of these charities was nominated by prominent members of the WOMAC community, including former Volkswagen CEO Robin Woolcock, Sue Loy, and Sarah Bradley.

A Community United
Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support, saying: “Thanks to the many supporters of WOMAC, I’m delighted that we have not only exceeded our pledges to our 2024 charities but also donated to a further three incredibly worthy causes. All of the charities have been nominated by the WOMAC community, and it is truly humbling to be able to support organisations that mean so much to our supporters.”

Fox further announced that WOMAC is already preparing for its 2025 fundraising efforts, with new charities set to be revealed soon.

Ongoing Contributions
As WOMAC looks ahead to its next chapter of fundraising, donations can still be made via its JustGiving page, enabling supporters to continue backing these life-changing causes. For more information and to contribute, visit WOMAC’s JustGiving page here.

WOMAC’s 2025 charities will be announced in the coming months, marking the beginning of another year of life-affirming work in the fight against cancer.
