Gennevilliers, France – September 22, 2014 – Marco Wittmann has been crowned DTM champion, building an unassailable 69-point lead over the first eight races of the season. This is the 24-year-old’s second season in the DTM, and he is now the youngest ever BMW driver to win the title.
Wittmann made an appearance this Saturday at the Automechanika trade fair in Frankfurt, representing Exide Technologies (OTCQB: XIDEQ). The battery giant is an official partner to BMW Motorsport in the DTM. Attendees were invited to meet and greet the driver, and a BMW DTM M3 show car was positioned at the stand throughout the event.
Motorsport fans are known to appreciate high-performance car parts, and every year brands compete to be associated with the winner. This season Wittmann’s victory will be seen as a huge win for Exide. The defining moments of the season were viewed by millions of motorsport fans around the world, with Exide’s branding displayed prominently for everyone to see.
“It is hard to describe my emotions,” said the BMW driver after securing the championship. “When you have been involved in motor racing for so many years, and then sometime achieve your big goal, it is an incredible feeling. I always wanted to drive in the DTM. Now I am the champion. It is so emotional, as you remember many moments from your past. It all feels fantastic.”
