Volvo Car South Africa (VCSA) is proud to announce that all Volvo EX30 electric vehicles are now fully connected, offering drivers a seamless online experience across South Africa and Lesotho. With built-in data connectivity officially activated, EX30 owners can stay informed, entertained, and in control—without relying on external Wi-Fi routers or mobile hotspots.
As part of this rollout, Volvo has granted all eligible EX30s a complimentary four-year connectivity package, valid from November 2025 through November 2029. This connectivity forms the backbone of Volvo’s transition toward a software-defined vehicle ecosystem, enabling real-time updates, smarter route planning, and an increasingly digital driving experience.
Enhanced Features via OTA Update 1.7.1
Alongside full connectivity, all EX30s have received the over-the-air (OTA) software update 1.7.1. Installing in just 30–45 minutes via the vehicle’s own connection, this update brings a host of new features designed to improve everyday driving.
Key enhancements include:
- Android Auto: Seamless smartphone integration for navigation, music, and communication.
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Towbar: ACC functionality now extends to vehicles towing trailers, making long trips safer and more convenient.
- New Parking Modes: Relax Mode, Refresh Mode, and Range Mode provide tailored options for charging and parking, optimising energy use and comfort.
Thanks to the OTA update, these improvements are delivered directly to the vehicle—no workshop visit required. Maps remain online (network-dependent), and future software updates will continue to be deployed seamlessly.
Connectivity That Enhances Everyday Life
“Reliable connectivity is essential on South African roads, whether for work, family trips, or weekend adventures,” said Grant Locke, Managing Director of Volvo Car South Africa. “Activating this service for our EX30 customers delivers convenience, peace of mind, and a driving experience that keeps pace with modern life.”
With full connectivity, EX30 owners gain access to real-time charging station data via the Volvo app and Google Maps, including charger availability and capacity. Long-distance trips—such as from Johannesburg to Cape Town—can be optimised, with smart route planning that factors in charging stops and vehicle performance.
A Step Toward the Software-Defined Vehicle
This connectivity rollout aligns with Volvo’s broader digital strategy. Future developments include digital service booking through the Volvo app and in-car browser, as well as remote diagnostics sent directly to dealers to improve service efficiency.
EX30 owners requiring assistance are encouraged to contact their nearest Volvo dealer or the Volvo Customer Care Team, ensuring that expert support is always just a call away.
With in-car connectivity and OTA updates now fully activated, the Volvo EX30 is more than just an electric vehicle—it’s a connected, intelligent driving companion ready for the roads of today and the journeys of tomorrow.
