After a five-year absence, Volkswagen is set to make a grand return to the Festival of Motoring at the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. This much-anticipated event, taking place from 30 August to 1 September 2024, marks Volkswagen’s resurgence in South Africa’s premier automotive show, offering a thrilling lineup of vehicles and activities that promise to captivate both car enthusiasts and families alike.
This year’s festival will serve as the launching pad for the brand-new T-Cross, Volkswagen’s latest addition to its esteemed lineup, as well as the refreshed Polo Vivo, which is set to hit the market in September. Niels Wichmann, Head of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Volkswagen is excited to be back at the Festival of Motoring to showcase its latest model range and to thrill its customers and visitors with fun-filled family activities. The show presents our brand with the opportunity to introduce our customers to our new T-Cross and the refreshed Polo Vivo.”

One of the highlights for visitors will be the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of the track firsthand. Volkswagen Motorsport drivers will be on hand to offer heart-pounding rides in a Super Cup racing Polo, giving attendees a taste of Volkswagen’s racing prowess. Additionally, the Volkswagen stand will feature an array of the brand’s latest models, including the new ID.4, the upcoming Tiguan, and the revamped Touareg.
Beyond the automotive spectacle, the Volkswagen stand is designed to be a hub of family-friendly entertainment. Visitors can engage in simulator competitions, let their creativity shine with kids’ sand art, and shop for exclusive Volkswagen merchandise. This blend of high-octane excitement and family-oriented activities ensures that there’s something for everyone.
In the 4×4 Village, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will also make a strong showing with the ID. Buzz (long-wheelbase), the Crafter, and the Amarok, catering to those interested in versatile and robust vehicles.
Volkswagen’s return to the Festival of Motoring after the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic is not just a comeback; it’s a statement of resilience and innovation. The brand’s diverse showcase, coupled with engaging activities, reaffirms Volkswagen’s commitment to delivering memorable experiences for its customers. The 2024 Festival of Motoring is not just a return—it’s a celebration of what’s to come.
