In a bold move that blends thrilling performance with everyday practicality, Volkswagen has introduced the ID.3 GTX Performance—a dynamic new addition to the ID.3 family that promises to electrify the compact EV segment. Available for order from 29 August, this range-topping model comes with a price tag of £46,225 (on-the-road recommended retail price, including VAT), offering an irresistible mix of pace, power, and cutting-edge style.
The Power to Thrill
Building on the success of the Pro and Pro S versions, the ID.3 GTX Performance pushes the boundaries of what an electric vehicle can deliver. Under the hood lies an 84 kWh gross (79 kWh net) battery, driving 326 PS and 545 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. This formidable setup propels the car from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds, placing it firmly in the performance EV category. With sports suspension, progressive steering, and Volkswagen’s DCC adaptive chassis control system as standard, the ID.3 GTX Performance ensures that this power is delivered smoothly and confidently, whether navigating city streets or tackling winding country roads.

Range and Practicality Combined
While the ID.3 GTX Performance is designed to exhilarate, it doesn’t sacrifice practicality. The model boasts a WLTP combined range of 369 miles, making it a versatile option for both daily commutes and longer journeys. When it’s time to recharge, the ID.3 GTX Performance offers convenience, with the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes at rapid DC stations of up to 185 kW. For home charging, speeds of up to 11 kW AC ensure the vehicle is always ready for the next adventure.
Striking Design Inside and Out
Volkswagen has taken care to ensure the ID.3 GTX Performance not only performs but also turns heads. The exterior features GTX-specific elements, such as a new independent black air intake with a diamond-style design and new daytime running lights. High-gloss black body accents, 20-inch Skagen black alloy wheels, and newly designed side sills and rear diffuser further enhance the car’s sporty appearance.
The interior mirrors the exterior’s sporty aesthetic with premium ergoActive sports seats that combine fabric with leatherette, accented by red decorative stitching. A GTX multi-function steering wheel, GTX-specific cockpit surface, and metallic paint elevate the driver’s experience, while a Harman Kardon sound system and augmented-reality head-up display come as standard, underscoring the model’s premium feel.
A Legacy Reborn
Kai Grünitz, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Technical Development, aptly described the ID.3 GTX Performance as “the electric counterpart to the Golf GTI Clubsport.” Grünitz emphasized that while an electric drive and a turbocharged petrol engine each bring their own unique qualities, both the ID.3 GTX Performance and the Golf GTI Clubsport share the same “fascinating lightness” when accelerating. This new model represents Volkswagen’s commitment to bringing its storied GT tradition into the electric era, offering driving pleasure that’s guaranteed.
As the world shifts toward electric mobility, the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Performance stands as a beacon for those who crave both sustainability and spirited driving. With orders now open, this groundbreaking EV is set to make waves in the automotive world.
